Vehicle Detail

It truly pains me to have to do this but I must sell my beloved R1150GS. The ONLY reason I am selling it is because I need the money for family expenses. I have owned two other bikes in the last few years: A Honda PC800 (don’t laugh- it was a fun little bike) and a Honda ST1100 Police Bike. They were both really awesome bikes in their own regard, but I just wasn’t totally satisfied. When I got the 1150 I knew I had found the right bike. I have been in heaven during every minute of riding with the possible exception of the trip home recently when the sun went down and the temp quickly dropped to about 35 degrees. I rode pretty seriously in my way younger/single days, but now with a wife and 4 little ones I just don’t have the time for pleasure riding and I cannot commute on 2 wheels due the needs of my job. Instead of seeing it sitting in the garage every day and being depressed that I can’t ride I would rather sell it to someone who can get more use out of it and use the proceeds to keep my kids in Montessori pre-school school for another year. It’s not in perfect condition and it doesn’t look like it just came off the showroom floor, but for the age & miles it looks really good. The bike runs & handles great. If you were planning a trip to the Yukon Territory I would suggest a new back tire, but for more casual/local riding it needs nothing- just get on & go. I did make it up on a narrow off-road trail last summer with a good assortment of rocks & was amazed at well the bike handled for being so tall & heavy- especially good control when standing on the pegs. Regarding shipping: It’s the buyer’s responsibility, however, I will assist as much as possible so that the shipping issue does not drive off an otherwise interested buyer. Depending on where you need the bike to go I would be willing to ride the bike to your location or meet you part way, weather permitting. If you want to pick the bike up here and ride/haul home but can’t get here right away I would be willing to hold the bike for a while at no extra charge, however, we would still need to complete the sale within 10 calendar days of the auction closing. Look at my feedback- I have been on eBay for a long time with the same user ID and 100% positive. No funny business here- bid with confidence! I will also be advertising the bike for sale locally, so I do reserve the right to cancel the auction early if it should sell before the auction closes. History - As far as I know I’m the 4th owner. I bought the bike in Aug ’09 and have only added 2,929 miles. - The 3rd owner had the bike one year and put 9,000 miles on it. He took it on a 6 week summer school trip to the east coast just before selling to me and put 4,000 miles on it with not a single problem. - The 2nd owner had the bike for three years and put 48K miles on it. Most of the miles have been either touring or his 100 mile daily commute. - Complete maintenance records included - Current mileage is 87,996 Factory equipment: Heated grips, ABS Farkles : - System side cases and top case (these are not keyed to the ignition. One key each for the side cases and top case, two for the ignition) - Cee Bailey windshield (summer shield) - Crash bars - Both Corbin single saddle and stock two-up saddle. - Powerlet BMW power plug (handlebar mounted) - TrailTech halogen driving lights with 55w bulbs actuated via the turn signal cancel button and a CycleGadgets switch. Both Blue & Amber light covers are included. - Chrome time belt cover - 2 Ram mounts on handlebars - Stebel airhorn (verrry loud- saved me a time or two I’m sure) - Kildala rear mud flap - Kildala oil cooler guard - Kildala master cylinder guard (not installed) - Kildala center stand rock plate (not installed) - BMW Advanced Battery Charging System (Battery Tender) not even 1 yr old - Cramp buster on throttle (It really helps on longer rides!) Consumables - Gel battery (purchased in ‘07) - Tires: TKC 80s. Estimate front has 60% and rear 30% tread left. - Recent Oil and filter changes at 84,788 & 86,825 miles - Transmission oil changed at 80,000 miles with Redline synthetic - Brake fluids replaced in ‘08 - New BMW grips. - Front and rear shocks are stock BMW GS shocks with 10,000 miles on them. - Brake pads still in good condition Mods - Cannisterectomy Major repairs from first owner owner. - Starter replaced at 49K - Throttle positioning sensor replaced at 60K - Rear wheels bearings replaced at 69K - Clutch master cylinder replaced at 73K The minuses - Tank has a few light scratches just behind the gas cap from keys. - There are a couple of deeper scratches right behind the steering head about a quarter of an inch wide. - The fairing on the left side has a small hole drilled in it from the previous owner. Looks like a running light was mounted there. - Scratch in the paint on the front Telever. - Scratch on right cylinder head - The right cylinder guard is cracked through - Crash bars have scratches and some minor rust but are otherwise are solid. - The handlebar mounted choke lever moves through the whole range but only 'locks' about halfway up.
