Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1987 GMC Safari ambulance. The conversion was done by “Stoner" ambulance in California. Stoner went out of business long ago. Only a few of these units where build. This one came from "Northrop", a big corporation in California, and was used as a corporate ambulance. This explains the low mileage of 67386. I bought this unit with the intention of completely restoring it. I wanted a unique vehicle as my daily driver. Since I restore and repair vehicles for a living I don’t want to worry about my own ride getting me home when I get off work. Therefore only the best quality parts where used. At the time I bought this vehicle it was fully running and functional. It was never decommissioned and is original including the interior. It was never involved in an accident and some parts where only changed for cosmetic reasons. Since the vehicle had been sitting for long periods of time between uses it became necessary to change most rubber parts which I did. I have owned this GMC for more than 8 years and have put less than 6000 miles on it. MOST PARTS EXCEPT THE SHOCKS HAVE LESS THAN A 100 MILES ON THEM. The shocks have about 400 miles on them. Due to the fact that I work in the auto repair and restore industry, I got reduced prices and have invested quite a bit over $3600 in this ambulance. The body of the vehicle, not the roof, was painted years ago with Imeron aircraft paint with is very expensive and very durable. At the time of painting all windows where removed. The paint is not totally smooth but good. I converted the windows from manual to power with used factory parts. Unfortunately the GMC was vandalized a year ago so look closely at the pictures. A few dents and the ignition lock. The door was open so no locks where broken. There is NO rust on this GMC at all. The GMC is not perfect but I did most of the needed -wanted mechanical work that most people don’t want to tackle at home. I will list the replaced parts at the bottom.
