Vehicle Detail

1977 Dodge Sportsman Royal B200 ¾ ton Van 2nd Owner, just over 52K miles 99% rust free, body has very few dents or dings, and original paint still shines (with a good waxing). Back door may have been repainted. The only significant rust that I have found is in the driver's rear wheel well, picture included. Some chrome has flaked off front bumper. I have treated both areas with POR 15. 8-passenger window van 318 V8 (will smoke at start-up, probably due to 1977 being the last year for leaded gas, and valve seats/seals were not made for unleaded), Automatic Transmission, PS, Power Disk Brakes, AC (components there but does not blow cold), Cruise Control (works intermittently). It appears that the temperature selector is disconnected behind the dash. I adjust the temperature from under the hood. I have found one small hole in the exhaust by the back wheel where it makes the 90 degree turn, but it is after the muffler and did not affect the state of Texas inspection. Good tires Interior original w/factory FM radio, small rip in driver’s seat vinyl (could probably be repaired), but rest of interior is very good to excellent condition. Carpet in cargo area has been spliced and repaired at one time, see picture. Some scratches on the dash from the latches on the dog house, and door panels have a few small nicks here and there. Royal Sportsman model was a rare trim package and included factory tinted windows and front swivel seats. Also has rear heat and tag under the hood states it has the Trailer Tow Package, although it has never had a hitch. I purchased this van off the original owner while I lived in Chicago. He had bought it new to cart extended visiting family, and after just kept it in the garage for family vacations. He had recent brake work done including new front calipers, front brake hoses and master cylinder. I have put in a new battery, horn, lower radiator hose, and wiper motor. I do not have any history beyond this. Current state inspection, clear TX title in my name. The license plates will be removed with the sale and do not go with the vehicle. Engine leaks a little, tranny leaks a little, but both just leave a small spot under the van when parked for a few days. Windshield wiper reservoir leaks out the washer fluid over time so either it or the hose has a small hole. If I were to keep it I would probably rebuild the carb. It takes about 10 pumps of the accelerator pedal to start it from a cold start and it sometimes has a sticky choke. Runs and drives well, I take it to work a few times a week to keep everything moving. All glass is good, although windshield has a small star that has been repaired and not very noticeable, and there is a slight wiper mark on passenger side. Weather stripping is serviceable but could stand to be replaced if you want to let it sit outside. Rear door seems to let water inside during a good rain. This is an excellent unabused survivor that would be good for a family, mopar van fans, as a funky 70s throwback, or as (gulp) a work van if necessary. You can’t find these this nice anymore! Please be advised:1. I am not a mechanic, just a lover of old vehicles. My statements are my opinions and you are strongly encouraged to physically inspect yourself.2. I use this as a pleasure vehicle. Many of the original parts are still on it, like belts and hoses. The furthest I have driven it at one time was about 100 miles with no problems. I would not drive it a great distance without a chase car or AAA and a cell phone. Vehicle is sold AS-IS.3. It is 34 years old and while it has little wear for its age, it is not perfect.4. Do not bid unless serious to purchase. $250 deposit is non-refundable. If full payment is not received by deadline it will be relisted. Buyer's remorse will not result in refund. Inspect it first.5. I will work with you to arrange for shipping if necessary, but I will not deliver. No transactions with scammers, spammers, or anything other than PayPal or cash.
