Vehicle Detail

1956 Chevy Bel Air 4 door. Body is in great condition. Original 265 cubic inch V-8 engine and Powerglide transmission. The data plate under the hood lists: Style no 56-1019DBody no T18255Trim no 574Paint no 7020Top AccBody by Fisher The engine data plate has the following: 0142066T56F I am selling this vehicle for my father, who is the current owner but is not able to do this himself at this time. This vehicle has spent most of its life on the West Coast, mostly California. Very minor surface rust in the trunk, but everyplace else is good. My father has owned this car for many years now, and he has had it repainted and new upholstery put on the seats, door panels, and headliner. The paint is faded, and there are several spots that have scratches in the paint. Overall, the paint is about a 6 out of 10. The upholstery and headliner are in great shape. The car has a floor mounted shifter instead of the original column mount. The odometer lists 38,355 miles at the time I took the picture(maybe 10-20 miles more now). I do not know if those are original miles or if the odometer has rolled over. The engine runs good, but will need a little work to be perfect. The only problem I have noticed with it is that the engine will die if you go to full throttle from a low RPM. Anything 500-1000RPM above idle and you can use full throttle with no problems. The carb probably just needs to be adjusted and/or cleaned, or it could need a timing adjustment. The transmission shifts quick and strong. My father told me that it has a very slow leak somewhere in it. I had to add 1.5qt or so of transmission fluid when I started it recently after it had sat for about 6 months. Several years ago the car was hit on the left rear at low speed while it was parked. The quarter panel was straightened and the tail lights replaced(both tail lights, not only the broken one). If there are any questions, I will answer them as soon as possible. I am currently staying where the car is located, so I can check anything quickly if somebody wants information about anything specific. The car is available for inspection if desired. It is located in Lancaster, California - about 1 hour drive north of Los Angeles. I can be contacted on my cell phone at 661-317-2373. If the car sells, it must be picked up, or other arrangements made, within 7 days of close of auction.
