Vehicle Detail
This is a 1976 Dodge M884 pickup that is rated at 1 1/4 tons. I am the first private owner of the truck and I have a clean title to it in my name. The truck was used as a Forestry Service brush fire truck and has markings from Brevent Park in New Jersey. As you can see in the pictures, the truck is completely protected by a steel roll cage and it's like a tank. The truck has dents and dings here and there, but doesn't show much rust. There is rust through in the tops of the front fenders (must be a Dodge thing) and a few spots here and there, but it's a very solid truck. The floors are solid except where someone punched a few holes through them, near the seat. They might have been put there as drain holes. They could be easily patched up. The truck has 21,175 original miles on it (documented) and it runs as smooth as silk. I'm not a Dodge guy, so I don't know the engine size, but I assume it's a 318. I know it has a Holley 4 Barrel carb, that a buddy of mine said was worth some bucks. The auto tranny shifts fine and the 4x4 system works great. The brakes work great, but I think I might have nicked a small hole in the rear brake line when I chained it to my trailer. That was several months ago and the brakes haven't leaked down yet. While the truck runs good, it is not road ready. It was vandalized before I bought it and had the back glass knocked out, the drivers side glass broken, the cowl stolen and some wiring cut. I have a back glass that is included in the sale, with no weatherstrip. I replaced the drivers glass with a later model that wasn't exact, so it only rolls halfway down. The windshield has a small chip that is smaller than a dime near where the rearview mirror would be mounted. The tailgate is included in the sale as well. The truck also has brand new Goodyear rough tread tires. I've used this truck on my property to haul firewood and it is almost unstoppable. I've taken it on narrow logging roads and driven over downed trees, through creeks and up snow covered hills. It is not a show truck and it is not ready to drive across country until the wiring is fixed and everything else is checked out. I will answer all questions truthfully and to the best of my ability. If you show up to buy the truck and it isn't as I described, you are welcome to leave without it.On Dec-27-10 at 07:21:35 PST, seller added the following information: Reserve will come off at $1,500.
