Vehicle Detail
I purchased this 1980 Scout because it had a newly rebuilt 345 motor and 727 transmission and in the hopes of reviving my years of enjoyment of my 79’ I had while in the Army. My grandparents retired from International in Ohio and my grandfather was credited with some of the design work. Unfortunately, I have become disabled with back and neck surgery pending and am selling all of my projects and toys. This Scout is the last of its era with a 345 V8, 727 automatic, both rebuilt with less than 1000 miles and Dana 44s. There is trailer hook up but I am uncertain of the gear ratios. Has power steering and brakes, tilt steering wheel, roll bar, minor lift with chrome wheels on 33x12.5 tires. This was originally a project Scout of someone else, hence the rebuild of the motor and trans, before they ran out of money and moved out of state. I found this Scout in Vegas and made several trips from SoCal to get it running after sitting for a few years. I pulled the plugs and primed the cylinders, new plugs, fluids and a battery and she fired right up on the first try. I would recommend some fine tuning but this Scout is sound and idles wonderfully. I have not been able to run any trails and still have the Nevada title. The body is in great condition with some rust on the rocker panels. Original paint was the Rallye orange but is now silver with tinted windows and the quarter sliders. The seats do need recovering or replace with your own custom buckets. I still have some odd parts from my original 79’ in storage that I will include if you like, nothing major but may come in handy later on. I do have a 79’ front grill with the round headlights if you prefer over the square lights of the 80’. One of the interior panels is missing but what you see in the pictures is pretty much straight forward. Clean body with only a few minor blemishes, some fine tuning, I would recommend servicing the transmission as I have not since acquiring it. Finish it up and you have a nice Scout! The Scout is sold as is, where is, and I can store it for a couple of weeks until arrangements can be made for shipping of your choice. If you have any questions I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. I am also listing the Scout locally and reserve the right to end my ad if sold prior to the end of the auction. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours and the balance due within seven days from the end of the auction or payment in full within 72 hours if buying it the "buy it now" price. Please contact me for arrangements.
