Vintage 914. Was stored in a garage for over 15-years (and was a second car of the prior owner). I bought the auto for my son in November 2009. The 914 has had only two-prior owners to me. Fuel lines (which were cracked plastic) were replaced with stainless steel lines. I also had the gas tank steam cleaned and professionally coated. The battery is also new. Many hoses have also been replaced. With only 47,370 miles, there's plenty of life left in the engine. The vehicle currently needs a tune-up (it's backfiring and spitting a bit), but it's very drivable. It's a reverse 5-speed. It takes a little work to get used to the pattern, but the transmission is sound. This 914 is in great shape for being a '73, but requires an owner who is either willing to work on the car or willing to spend for some engine work. To my knowledge from talking with the prior owner, the vehicle has never been in any accidents. As the vehicle was stored with the battery intact over fifteen years, some battery acid did corrode the right support beam for the back wheel. I had the beam repaired at a cost of just over $2,000. The corrosion was only to the beam and not to the body or frame of the car. With minimal work this car could be a classic again. My son has gone to college and I lack the desire to work on the vehicle.
