Vehicle Detail
First off let me start by saying this is a PROJECT CAR so it will need work. This is not finished. The car IS licensed, and insured.. I had this car listed before but it blew a head gasket and I removed the listing until I fixed it which I have done. I put a new headgasket on it and new intake manifold gaskets. Right now the car will start and run, but backfires and doesn't want to idle. I believe it just needs some tuning to get it back right and I don't have the time to work on two of them right now. What I have is a 1950 Pontiac Chieftain 4 door sedan that has a 1958 Pontiac 370 V8 with 1960 389 heads, 1960 4barrel intake and a 1961 Pontiac AFB carburetor sitting on it. The engine was in a modified 30's model Ford race car YEARS ago. It has since been gone through, but sit up until I got it. It used to run a tri power setup and a magneto. I still have the edelbrock tri power intake that I took off the engine, but the magneto is long gone. The intake will go with the car. It currently has a points distributor in it, but I have a mallory unilite that I'll let go with it. I also have an extra set of 1960 389 heads. The engine holds great oil pressure and runs at 180 degrees. It has open headers right now so it will need exhaust work to quieten it down. It's running a 12V generator setup which works fine. The transmission is a 1960 Pontiac "Jetaway/Hydramatic" 4 speed automatic that I removed from a 60 Bonneville convertible. I put a new torus seal up kit in it and a rear seal and it does not leak. It shifts fine, but the kick down/passing gear cable does need hooked up. I also relocated the battery to the trunk. It has a new $180 Optima battery in it with a kill switch. It has 4 like new Firestone wide whites on it. The car looks fine, but does need body work. It has a new headliner, and wind lace. The interior is decent. I have rewired this car using a rebel 9+3 wiring harness.. All of the bulbs have been changed to 12V I was building this car to a period as a traditional hot rod so 95% of everything I used was 1961 or older. I have fender skirts for it and a visor. The visor will need rust repair. This car is 60 years old and is being sold AS-IS where is, no warranties. This car should make someone a good cheap hotrod project that could be ready to drive next season. The title to the car is currently in the mail to the DMV and I should have it back within 2 weeks. If anyone has any questions about the car, please email me prior to bidding. Anyone is more than welcome to come and look at the car prior to bidding as well. THANKS!On Nov-27-10 at 17:37:55 PST, seller added the following information: Here is the tri power intake I have for it. It's an Edelbrock P303 which fits 1955-1964 Pontiac engines. The 4 carburetors I have all fit the base, but are mix matched. They should be good cores to set this tri power up. On Dec-02-10 at 15:52:32 PST, seller added the following information: Here are some more pictures of the car This is the visor I have for it. It will need rust repair under the stainless trim and the mounting bracket is rusty, but it should be repairable. This is the engine and transmission before it was put in the car. Mouse trap and fake mice were in the car when I got it.. as a joke by the previous owner. The back seat has a hole in it about where the trap is at where a mouse had made it's way in from the trunk. The top of the rear seat is torn also, but has a piece of material laying over top of it. I'll try to add more pictures before the listing goes off if I can get time during the day to take them.
