Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A The body has been rhino lined inside and out and does not look bad. Problem with the rhino lining is they also did the dash and other areas that probably should not have been done and although very well protected I think it would look better if these areas had not been done. The engine is a Ford 5.0L, 302ci with a Carter ASM 750 CFM Carburetor. The block casting number shows it is a 69-73 before they were detuned and the compression lowered due to emissions, when a muscle car was still a muscle car. I have rebuilt the carburetor, timed it and done a full tune up. It runs good with all the power you might need and it will smoke all four tires if you want. I am pretty sure that the transmission, three speed, and drive train are original. The clutch works well, it shifts fine and the 4 wheel drive works fine. Most of the underneath has been redone and is new including springs, shocks, tie rods, etc. There is approximately a 2 inch lift on the spring shackles that you can see in the picture of the rear end. Everything else looks pretty much stock. I have been driving it some and slowly going through things. Although it is drivable as it sits there are still several things that could be done and/or need additional TLC. 1. The steering still has more play than I like. I have worked on it and tightened it considerably however it still has more play I want. Most of it is coming from the steering gear box which I have taken apart and everything looks good. I just do not know how/if it can be tightened more or if it is as good as it gets. 2. The brakes work but could be better. Some tires stop more than others and it seems to change the more I use it. This is probably due to sitting for a long time. Probably needs to be bled, maybe pads. I do not know and have not yet taken the time to look into it. I have not seen any leaks but the pedal feels a little soft. 3. I put a new alternator in it and at the same time got that gauge working however it is the only one that works. The rest do not look too hard as the wiring is fairly simple and easy to get to I just have not taken the time. 4. Install the driver’s seat. It just bolts down with four bolts but it mounts to close to the steering wheel for me to drive comfortably and does not adjust like newer cars. I was going to put it in a good place for me and build some brackets or something to hold it. If the current placement works for you then just bolt it in and you are done. It has a tow bar and tows well. I have the front seat, air cleaner assembly (fits fine under the hood), and fuel gage which goes with it. Feel to come and check it out anytime if you are local and or ask any questions you want. Corby Patrick Analyzing "Smart Counters" only @ inkFrog.com
