She is a 100% rust free California car with only 94,000 original miles. These were the only American made Capri's, and the only ones worth having. The 5.0 lt V-8 runs, drives, and looks great. The engine sounds very healthy and idles smoothly. She is as quiet as a mouse and runs extremely well. There is no leaking, smoking, or strange noises. The transmission shifts crisply and right on time through all the gears. The brakes, steering, and suspension are all in good working order. The mechanical, electrical, and climate control systems all worked correctly when tested. The air conditioning does not blow cold and will need to be serviced.The car has been very well taken care of, and there are over $6,000 worth of maintainence records. Cosmetically the Capri looks great. The body, chassis, and frame are all 100% rust free and original. The passenger side door has an indentation that starts right at the "R" in rs and goes back to the front of the rear wheel well. The finish appears to be the factory coat of paint with original decals. It is in very good overall condition. There are however minor nicks, chips, dings, scratches, etc.She was purchased new in California and still bears it's original front and rear "blue and yellow" license plates that were issued with the car and verify it's registration history in California since new.Very clean stock engine compartment with no excessive reisdues.Manafactured: 01/79 Vin# 9R14F613213 The interior is in excellent original condition showing minimal wear. This is rare, great looking, and driving Capri RS. Some history if you are interested: Lincoln-Mercury would market the European operation's answer to the Mustang, the Capri, as an alternative to imported sports sedans of the early '70s. After the European model was dropped, the Capri name landed on a near-duplicate of the new-for-'79 Mustang, based on Ford's then relatively fresh Fox platform. The Fox Capri shared a chassis and all mechanical components with the new Mustang, differing mostly in sheetmetal, though the roof, doors and hatch would be shared. Mercury would only utilize the hatchback bodystyle, leaving the two-door coupe to Ford. For 1983, the Capri received a unique hatch featuring "bubbleback" styling, along with new taillamps and a surround that made the Mercury pieces seem like more than just differently styled lenses. Convertible tops appeared for the Mustang in 1983, but they were denied to the Capri. However, McLaren versions of the Capri featured custom convertibles, though we'll treat those as separate models and cover them in a different guide at some point in the future. The Capri maintained its sporting image in this new era, offering buyers versions that favored either performance or luxury--thought they didn't really excel at either, at least at first. Model designations began in 1979 with the base Capri and the Ghia, and included the sporty RS and RS turbo, the latter having a 2.3L turbocharged four. As the years rolled on, the Capri would gain L and GS designations while the RS soldiered on, though the actual performance engines were often a separate option.
