You are bidding on my one of a kind very solid 1965 Rambler Mean Marlin rat rod. If you decide to rebuild one of these, be prepared to cuss and spend a lot of time, measuring, cutting and installing. I'm not sure why the Rambler engineers decided to use the 880 and below model front end on a Marlin when they should have designed it with the 990 front end. Take a look and see if you agree! This is exactly what I did! I bought two 1965 Ramblers, one Marlin and one Ambassador 990 2dr hardtop. The Ambassador wheel base is 4 inches longer than the Marlin so I cut 4 inches out of the back half of the 990 fenders and re-cut the lines to match door lines. I was able to keep the 990 hood the factory length by getting rid of the cowl panel by the windshield wipers. I did windshield wiper cut-outs of the hood. I custom made a shaker style hood scoop by combining a 1953 oldsmobile batwing air cleaner with a vintage aluminum alloy hood scoop. I omitted the hood hinges and used 4 hood pins to hold the hood down. Hood is light and easy to take on and off. The "R" logo on the fuel cap is from a 1955 Rambler Cross Country wagon custom fitted to the Marlin fuel cap. The rear wheels are vintage appliance rare 14x9 narrow slots. Fronts are western mags 14x 5.5. Vintage Thrush Hush muffler in good shape. This Marlin has 70k actual miles and front end is still tight. Stock 327 4-barrell V8, strong shifting flash-o-matic automatic transmission, power steering and power disc brakes. Bucket seats with center console and automatic column. All the glass is good including the windshield. The passenger rear is plexi-glass but still rolls up and down. Engine has new radiator and heater hoses, new fuel pump, new water pump, new carb kit, new points/condenser, plugs, plug wires, dist cap and rotor. New master cylinder kit and the brakes are a year old. Front tires are near new and rears still have lots of tread left. New Hi-jacker air shocks. Brakes stop nice and straight and power steering works great. The engine is currently from the Ambassador 990 but I do have the original Marlin engine if you want it. It also ran good but timing chain was slacking. I have several extra parts that go with this car including the Marlin doors so that you can use the door panels if wanted. All glass in Marlin doors are good as well. The headlights and taillights work as well as interior and trunk light. Gas gauge does not work, needs sending unit. The vacuum wipers are not hooked up but I have everything from the Ambassador to change the Marlin over to electric wipers. This is my daily driving rat rod that gets a lot of attention. I filed to get a new title and will not get the title for four to five weeks from now. The winner of this auction can pay the deposit and I will hold the car until I get the good clear title. I can't release the car after the auction because it will need to be taken to an Oklahoma tag agency for a VIN inspection before they release the new title to me. If the winning bidder lives in Oklahoma, I can release the car and we can get the VIN inspection done when it comes time. I do have the spare tire/wheel and original jack and tools. The body is very solid with no rust out. The floors and trunk floor are also very solid with few spots very minor. The battery tray, rockers, inner rockers quarters etc and structural areas are all solid. I love this car and hate to sell it, but my wife has been out of work for a while and is worried about bills and Christmas presents for the kids. The VIN number is still permanently on the Marlin and never removed. I have paper work submitted through the DMV and will get the title in 4 to 6 weeks. The core support is still the original Marlin core support. This Marlin came from California to Oklahoma in 1985 and it is very solid.
