Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1986 4Runner Turbo SR5 with all original paint, etc. in fabulous condition for its' age. This is a California truck so there is no rust! I bought it from a Californian a year and a half ago [see photos & run vehicle history report], and have driven it only 5k miles since. The underside looks almost new, and the truck has all its' original paint and decals. The dash pad has no cracks, and the interior is in great condition for a Toyota of this vintage; I have never seen an old 4Runner with the rear plastic panels in tact. The seats look good, save a seam on the driver's seat that is coming undone [~4"]. The driver side mat is missing, but the one on the other side is there. The center arm rest was recovered by the previous owner who gave me enough extra fabric to have the door panel fabric replaced. A rear seat belt is broken, but a replacement is included with the auction; I just never got around to it. Oh, the stereo was stolen when the vehicle was shipped to me, so you won't have to worry about that, and you get to pick the one you want! Other than that the interior is not new, so there are spots that need cleaning etc, but you will be hard pressed to find one of these type 4Runners in more original condition. I bought it a little over a year ago, but it has not worked out for me; my wife doesn't like it, it is difficult for children to get in and out, and it does not drive like a new Honda Pilot etc. I was going to restore it, but have neither extra time or money, and it has turned out not to be ideal as a family vehicle. However, if you are single or a pair, with an occasional up to three riders, this is really groovy and neat. The top comes off for nice weather, the sun roof is fun, and the 4WD adds a bit of fun too. Since I have had it, I have had replaced: the power steering box, front axles, seals, and CV joints; a new starter, new tires, and a few new rubber window seals. The transmission fluid and filter have been changed, and the oil in the diffs. The turbo blows oil, so I have another one [I bought off ebay] that has 20k miles on it that I was going to get installed –just haven't gotten around to it; it is included in the auction. The engine leaks a little oil; I don't know where as I have a gravel drive, and it is not significant relative to the failing turbo. The cruise control and power locks do not work; the cruise appears to have all its' components except for the controls on the tree, so someone must have replaced the signal lever and bought the cheaper one without the cruise. The AC works great as the previous owner put some money into it, and the heat and defrost work great too. It also has a rear seat heater. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, or if you live nearby Gibsonville, NC feel free to come have a look. Other than that: it starts and runs great, and has always been reliable for me. It is old, has rattles, noises, probably needs a tune-up [plugs, valve tappets, etc.], but it is unlike any other SUV you can buy.On Nov-18-10 at 17:35:45 PST, seller added the following information: I am posting additional info as the result of a question I just received. As I thought obvious from the pictures, but now realize it is not, it has little dents and dings everywhere from car parks through the years. This may be significant to you, and it may not; it is used, at 200k miles –not mint. The front fenders are the worst, but there is nothing very serious, and since it is all original you can tell what you have –nothing has ever been fixed. The front fenders, at $50 each would be easier to replace than to fix; personally, the small dents never bothered me as the fenders still look great [to me]. The rear of the truck has very few dings; the rear bumper is bent a little on the driver side. Overall, for a truck its' age, it is in great shape –hardly mint –but you will be hard pressed to find one any nicer.
