Vehicle Detail
Museum Quality 1st GEN Accord!!! 1980 Honda Accord This is the no stories, no excuses Generation 1 Accord you have been looking for. Here are the particulars: This car was sold new at Ed Lemco Honda in Corvallis, Oregon to an older female University Professor. She walked to work so the car was kept in the garage and only used when she needed to travel out of town. In 1993 the family felt she should no longer be driving so she gave the car to her daughter, at that time it had just 39,000 miles on it. Well her daughter was obviously cut from the same cloth because she kept the car just as her mother had. The car was never used for commute duty and was used exclusively for out of town travel. This is all well documented as a log of every gallon of gas ever run through the car has been kept. It even logs average mpg and where the fuel was bought. You can see regular trips to California last winter. The great thing about this car is that oftentimes you find a low mileage older car and it hasn’t been driven more than 5 miles at a time. Just this year this car has been taken on road trips to Phoenix, Palm Springs and more! It is ready for any trip you want to take it on. I have a copy of the original window sticker, the original books, the original keys with the original key tag still attached and of course the log showing a full history. When is the last time you saw any of that for a 1st generation Accord? Exterior: Overall 9.0/10 Paint - Beige. The paint is 100% original on every panel with exception of the hood. It has no fade or oxidation whatsoever! It even has almost no rock chips! The hood was repainted roughly 20 years ago after it was scratched when something fell on it in the garage. The paintwork was not done to the best standard and as such it is slightly dull and I would personally respray it if I wanted to show the car. The affected area is limited to the hood and it doesn’t show in photos, just a poor job that doesn’t befit the quality of the rest of the car. You can tell no severe damage happened as the underside of the hood is still pristine and as new. Body - The car has never been in an accident. No dings, no flaws. Unreal! Body Parts - The glass is in perfect shape. The windshield is original. All of the body rubber is soft and beautiful. The trim is perfect on every surface. Wheels - The car is sitting on its original steel wheels and matching aluminum beauty rings. Beautiful! The tires are fairly recent and match all the way around. A note about rust: As anyone familiar with these cars knows, rust is a major issue. Most of these cars have long ago rusted away. This car is as dry and rust free as you will ever find. It is as if time stood still. For those of you not familiar, the Pacific Northwest in the best place to find a car in the nation. We don’t use any kind of corrosives (salt) on the roads in the winter, as we rarely see snow. We also don’t get the heat, humidity or intense sunlight of down South. As a result you don’t see rust damage on our cars as you would in the East coast, Mid-West, etc and you don’t see the sun damage as you would cars from down south (i.e. cracked dashes, dried leather, sagging headliners, etc). The fun part about this car is that even underneath all of the fasteners, parts, etc are clean and fresh. Interior- Overall the interior I would categorize as a 9.0/10. This car has never been smoked in, had kids or pets in it, nor even been ate in! I would challenge the pickiest person to scrutinize the interior and prove me wrong! Seats: This car had seat covers installed from day 1. As a result the seats show almost no wear at all. Their or no tears, holes, abrasions, etc. Like new. The bad part of the seats covers is that since they were installed for so long some of the black color bled through onto the vinyl bolsters and headrests. It thought about having the bolsters re-dyed, but figured I would show it the way it is. Carpet: The carpet is also darn close to perfect, it has always had mats over the carpet. There is one wear spot on the rear floor behind the driver’s seat. Dash: The dash pad is PERFECT. No fades, cracks etc. The steering wheel shows no signs of wear. Head liner: Perfect! Door panels: They are all in excellent shape, no wear or sagging. Look at the painted metal under the doors and in the door jams, unreal! Electronics and gauges: EVERYTHING on this car works. Including all gauges, climate control, dash lights, event the analog clock keeps correct time! The car has factory AC and the owner claims it works. Since I have had the car it has not been hotter than 75 degrees but the compressor engages and it does appear to cool, but it has not been tested in real hot weather. The factory radio was changed out for a Sony head unit, nothing was cut or altered. Trunk and accessories: The trunk carpet is in like new condition, the never used spare, tools and jack are present. Mechanical: The car just turned over 100k miles, currently showing 00,137 miles on the odometer. I have a video of the car turning 100k miles, if you are interested I can send it to you. The cars runs and drives as you would expect it to based on the care it was given. It starts up with no hesitation or smoke. It idles smoothly and pulls to redline with ease. The transmission shifts smoothly, the clutch engages as it should. Frankly driving this will transport you back to 1980. It has been run on Mobil 1 since 1993 and has had very regular service. It doesn’t leak a drop of anything. Everything is stock with a few “upgrades” installed by the older owner. They added a K&N Air filter and modified the intake slightly, I chuckled when he told me he thought it added a few horsepower! They also added Fiama air horns so they could make sure no driver hit their prized possession. I would trust this car to drive to New York tomorrow. The car comes with all the original books, keys, window sticker and mileage log. I have tried to tell you as much as I can about the car. I feel confident that any buyer would not be disappointed in the car. Please feel free to ask any questions via email or call us direct during business hours at 509-946-2000.
