Vehicle Detail
Thanks for viewing my auction for this beautiful 1976 Honda GoldWing GL1000. If you’re a fan of these first generation GoldWings I’m sure you won’t be disappointed in the overall condition of this bike. To the best of my knowledge the 14K miles showing is accurate as I am the third old guy owner. It’s always been garaged as will be obvious when you view the bike in person. Cosmetically, it’s in really great shape. The original Sulfer Yellow paintwork is shiny with no dents or scratches. Sidecovers and decals are also nice although the left side cover fixing screw mount area has an older crack repair that seems to be holding up fine. Original Honda seat is in great shape with no rips or tears. Chrome is all nice as is the frame and original engine finish. I have no idea how old the tires are, but the tread is good and they hold air. Alloy rims have minimum oxidation. Stock rear shocks have been replaced with Progressive units at some time. Battery is a year old. The fuel tank is clean on the inside, no flaky or scale rust and carbs have been cleaned but need balancing. All electrics; lights, signals, horn, brake lights, charging system and instruments work fine. Clutch, transmission and final drive work perfectly. Amazingly, the rare original Honda muffler has survived and has no holes or rust. The joints between the header pipe and mufflers have been repaired in the distant past and there is some evidence of a small exhaust leak there. Mechanically, the bike starts up easily on the first crank. I have done a compression check and all cylinders are 170-180psi, which is right on spec. I have also changed plugs, points, condenser, fuel and air filter and replaced the timing belts. Recent oil/filter change also. Although the bike starts up fine, it does seem to have a lean condition misfire as it warms up. The idle speed also is very uneven, but having said that, when I have ridden the bike it does seem to smooth out at highway speeds and pulls really strongly. I suspect the problem is somewhere in the fueling system and I think an experienced technician would probably be able to locate and correct this issue in short order. If you have any questions, ask away and I’ll try to answer promptly. Overall I think this bike is in amazing original condition and a new enthusiastic owner could not lose by investing some time and money in getting it perfect. I’m not planning on retiring on the funds from the sale of this bike so my auction has no reserve, highest bidder gets it. I expect a $300 deposit by Paypal from the winning bidder at auction close and the balance in cash when you pick up. Please be sure to get your transportation plan together before bidding. The bike is located in Madison, Connecticut and has a current Florida registration in my name. I will provide the new owner with a clear Florida title, a bill of sale and any other documents you require. I will also include the original Honda owners manual . Once again, thanks for viewing, good luck to all and happy bidding.
