Vehicle Detail

This is a NO RESERVE auction! The 1992–1996 Olds Cutlass Siera remains popular, and will probably some day be considered a classic. I see others like it every time I go anywhere. This one is well-maintained, oil-changes every 3000 miles. The vehicle has been driven less than 200 miles since the last oil change, fuel filter replacement and coolant flush/refill. The air filter was changed at the previous oil change. The trans fluid and filter were changed a couple of years ago, but I can't recall exactly when. I had intended to keep this car up to 300,000 miles. But I received a newer car from my late aunt's estate. We now have 3 cars for 2 drivers, so this one has to go. Exterior: The body and paint are mostly in good condition. The vehicle has never been in an accident since we have owned it (10 years), and I don't think prior to our owning it. It was stolen from us once, and the front plastic fender parts had to be replaced, along with some other scrapes. In the last few years, there has been some surface rust and paint bubbling along the fenders, lower doors and rockers. I have ground, sanded, treated with Rust Reformer to halt oxidation, primed and repainted to preserve the body, whenever I could. The doors and fenders are sound metal, but the rockers were eaten through by rust in spots. They have been ground, treated with rust reformer, and patched with a glass-reinforced body filler. I have not had a lot of free time to work on it, so some of the surfaces are not perfect. I'm not a professional at body repair, and it's now too cold here to go on working outside. You will see uneven spots in some of the detail shots. If I was going to keep this car, I'd have it professionally repainted. I could not get an exact match to the paint, so some of the repaint shows, depending on how the light hits it. There are some spots where the original clear-coat has worn off or peeled, and some spots where the paint is thin, such as along the hood, cowl, on the rear quarterdeck, and the center back end of the hood. You can see this in the pictures. Interior: The interior is a velour cloth upholstery in burgundy, with matching carpets and carpet pads, in good condition, showing some wear, but not much. The outer thread of the piping around the front seats is worn through at the sides, showing as white lines in the interior photos. There are a few scuffs that I couldn't easily polish out on the plastic parts. There is a crack in the plastic of the right front door panel, below the attachment point for the seat belt. This model has a superior 3-point seat belt system. There is one small burn mark in the carpet, from when the car was stolen. The seats are very comfortable. Options/Accessories: Power steering works. Power brakes, disk front, drum rear. Brakes were rebuilt completely within the last couple of years. Inspected in July, the brakes required only an adjustment to the rears. (You know they'd sell me new pads & calipers if they thought they could.) Power seat adjustment works. Air and Heater work. Cigarette lighter does not work, but we don't smoke. Power door locks work, but the remote is dead. Power windows work. AM/FM cassette player works. Cruise Control works. Rear window defogger works. Engine: 3.3 liter V-6 starts easily, runs smooth and has plenty of power. I have taken this vehicle on several interstate trips, and it cruises nicely at 75, with plenty of power to accelerate beyond that. Die-Hard Gold series battery. Highway fuel efficiency is approx. 27 MPG. City driving will be 18–22, depending on traffic congestion. We don'use the Overdrive for local driving, because once or twice it popped out of gear at a stoplight. The overdrive works without any problems for highway driving. Tires: Mismatched set has tread, but should be replaced. The left rear has a slow leak. Hub caps have plastic mock lug nuts. I think most of the hub caps have one broken mock lug nut. No matter how many times we tell them, mechanics will put the impact wrench on the fake lug nut and bust them. The car has one of those dwarf spare tires, which has never been used. Trunk: Spacious, with cargo net. I didn't vacuum it yet.
