Vehicle Detail
1986 VW Cabriolet For Sale with many, many, many new parts on it. It runs well and is inspected through January. Here's the breakdown of the good, the bad, and the ugly... The good: 5 speed manual transmission that was rebuilt 25k and 10 years ago. Most of the shifter parts were replaced, and it shifts pretty decent, though you have to be sure you're in gear when putting it in reverse A rebuilt 2 Liter High output engine (replacing the stock 1.8L) was put in with the transmission and also has about 25k on the rebuild. Runs well, though the idle is a bit rough until the car warms up. Gets mid 20mpg around town and is quite peppy! Audi distributor put in with the engine/trans Newer Heavy duty aluminim radiator Pretty new techtonic exhaust that makes it sound sweet No oil burning issues Newer ignition switch Newer fuel pump relay and fuel pump New alternator New battery Newer VW rims Good tread on tires Newer red repaint New speakers New CD Head unit with remote and mp3 AUX input New top Many other new/newish parts.... The bad: There are two leaks in the front corners at the window weatherstripping. After installing the last two new speakers, the sound stopped coming out. It has a great sound system, but it doesn't currently play anything. The brakes squeak a bit, but only at light brake pressure. It doesn't have air conditioning and the heater is mildly warm at best. The turn signals stopped working a few months ago. The right half of the instrument cluster (tachometer, coolant temp, gas gauge) will randomly stop working somtimes if its warmer out. The ugly: A few small dings and scratches on the car. The bottom of the front corners near the wheel well has had its paint come off but there's no rust yet I got a bit glue crazy when putting in the new top around the glass window and as a consequence there's glue around the top of the window A few bike chain grease stains on the back seat Also, the car comes with a lot of $$$ in parts myself and its previous owner have purchased in the pursuit of VW perfection...here's what I believe I have in the parts that come with the car... Clear title (I hear this is important) New injector seats New power steering hoses New main fuel pump New power steering pump New clutch cable and clutch cable attachment bits New door handle shields New shifter lower boot New complete shifter rebuild kit, including rods Two used relay/fuse blocks One axle boot assembly and some new axle-to-transmission hex bolts Used VW cruise control unit (the cruise turn signal lever is already installed on the car) Two new front upper strut mounts with related bushings 3 ignition keys spare tire and jack That's about it. The buyer has 48 hours to pay a $500 nonrefundable deposit after the auction closes. The rest is due at the time of the car's pick up, which must happen within 14 days following the auction's close, unless arranged differently beforehand with me. Happy bidding!
