Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1976 Porsche 912e. It's number 1944 of 2099 and is one of 500 that came with a factory sunroof. The car has been a California car all of its life. I am currently the third owner. The original owner sold the car in May of 2008 and I in turn purchased the car from the second owner in August of 2008. The car came with extensive records dating back to when the car was originally purchased including the owner's manual. I will be passing these records on to the next owner. The car passed California smog on September 9th and is currently registered until September of 2011. I have a clean title in hand. Below is a brief overview of the car. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact me. I'll return emails as soon as possible. Engine: The engine currently has 228,000 miles and runs strong. The car was meticulously maintained by Black Forest Automotive in San Diego, CA by the two prior owners. The engine does have a rebuild. I've driven the car to Auburn, CA four times over the past 3 months (approx. 110 miles each way) and the car ran flawlessly every time. Since I purchased the car I haven't had a single issue with the engine. The transmission shifts smooth and feels really strong. The third gear synchro is starting to wear, but as long as you shift into 3rd slowly it's not a problem . The second owner had a Bursch Tuned Exhaust installed on the car right before I purchased it. The engine also has a hidden kill swith under the dash. The car was last serviced in May of this year. Exterior: To my knowlege the paint is original. Some of the clear coat is pealing on the front and there are a few rust spots on the rear of the car near the rear windshield, as well two very minor spots on the left and right of the front windshield. Other than that the paint is in pretty decent shape. All of the chrome molding is intact and the bridgestone tires have plenty of tread left, but the sidewalls are starting to crack from age. Interior: The interior is complete and fairly clean. The car has the original Blackrupt speakers and includes an aftermarket speaker enclosure in the rear head rest area. I believe this was purchased as an option with the car. The car has an older stereo, but I do not believe it is original to the car. The front seats have sheep skin covers, but but the leather does need to be reupholstered. The door pockets have been recovered and the gauges all work. The clock does not. All in all this car is in fairly good condition, considering it is almost 35 years old. To my knowledge almost everything on the car is original other than what I previously stated. If you have any specific questions please let me know. I will return emails as soon as possible. Again, I do have a clean CA title in hand and the car passed CA smog on September 9th.
