Vehicle Detail

Here's a chance to own a piece of history. First of all, I will make every attempt to describe this vintage truck with as much detail as possible, however, for the true collectors out there please email any specific questions you may have in order to clarify anything you may need to about this truck. This is a 1947 1/2 ton Ford Pickup , model 79A. The truck was originally purchased by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as a work truck and spent many years at the facility as a result. The original title, which was retained over the years, documents that fact. About 3 years ago this truck went through a complete frame-off restoration to bring it to the near museum quality that you see in the pitctures. The bed, cab and fenders are all original and were completely sandblasted during the work. The seats were redone to original specs in color and fabric and even the springs and frame of the seat are original. The motor is a 1947 Flathead V8 and was completely rebuilt from the ground up as well. The case was beadblasted and magnafluxed during the process as well. It utilizes the stock 3 speed transmission which was also rebuilt prior to the install and is mated to an original 1947 rear end as well. The brakes were completely rebuilt as well using OEM parts during the process on all cylinders and shoes. The front end is all new with new tie rods, king pins etc.. All tires were new when installed during rebuild and have only around 37 total miles on them at this time. The paint is flawless and was done by a local professional and is in the exact color combination that came on the truck when manufactured. The colors are black with a Tacoma Creme Piinstriping (and yes, it is painted pinstriping and not a vinyl decal) with a black interior w/green vinyl seats. The seats back in 1947 were available in only green or tan. Only about 3 % of the trucks made were painted black, so you are actually seeing a rare color combination on this truck. The truck bed was wood lined originally and all wood pieces have been replaced with new wood to provide that brand new appearance in the bed of the truck. About the only changes to this truck were a conversion to a 12v system for ease of operation and an electronic ignition that is housed within the original distributor. Attention to detail was done at every opportunity during this process and if a bolt or screw needed to be replaced it was replaced with a new part. As an FYI, there was no rust on any part of this truck when the parts were removed and the frame, cab, bed and fenders were all cleaned and primered prior to painting in order to prevent any rust ever from starting. This is a complete and accurate truck from beginning to end and therefore hoping to attract serious collectors as a result. If you have further questions, please ask.
