Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS. 340cid/Automatic Transmission/8-3/4 Rear 3:23 Gears. This is a real GTS with numbers matching engine and transmission. It is in generally good condition and is driven regularly. It is an original California car that I had shipped to New York this past March. I purchased the car on E-Bay in February with the intention of driving and restoring it, but have since bought a 2010 Challenger, so something has to go. This car can be driven as is, or easily restored to become a nice show car. I will try to describe it the best I can. Engine: The original numbers matching engine is still in the car. It runs very well and appears to me that it was rebuilt not too long ago. I removed the valve covers for inspection, and the engine looks spotless on the inside. I rebuilt the Edelbrock 600 cfm carb, as well as re-jetting it. I also installed a Mopar Performance electronic distributor. I had the distributor recurved for best performance. The engine has also been tuned up(plugs,wires,cap,rotor,etc.). I replaced the engine wiring harness with a new one from Year One.The rest of the engine appears stock to me. The car is an original A/C car. I have the compressor and other lines that aren’t seen in the pics. Transmission/Rear: The 727 transmission is also original numbers matching to the car. It shifts real firm and has no slippage. I changed the fluid and filter as well as replacing the tranny cooling lines. The rear is an 8-3/4 unit with a single drive 3:23 gearset. I also installed new u-joints. Suspension/Brakes: I replaced the original leaf springs with new pieces from Mancini Racing which give the car a better stance. I also installed a new front sway bar since somebody removed the original one. The car originally had 4 wheel manual drum brakes, but I replaced the front drums with new disc brakes from SSBC. (I still have the original front drums). The car comes with 14" Rallye Wheels with new BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s(215/70/14). Body: The car spent its whole life in California and therefore has no rust issues. The body is pretty straight with the exception of a dent in the right rear quarter panel. I believe it was painted 8-10 years ago. Car was originally gold with a gold interior. The paint is driver quality, not show. Interior: This is where the car needs the most help. The interior was originally gold. Someone started changing it over to black, which I think is a better choice. The door panels need the be replaced and the inside of the doors painted to match. I removed and painted the dash frame black as well as installed a new dash pad and gauge bezels. I have some of the interior that is not seen in the pics This car is a great driver which will only increase in value if it is further restored. There aren't too many left that still have the original drivetrain. I am sure that I left out a lot of things, so please e-mail me with any questions. I will try to respond to all. Thank you.
