Vehicle Detail
Here is a cute Spitfire MK 3 from 1969 with only 13048 miles on it. I bought this car and intended to restore it to be my daily driver. I had a 1975 MGB for 22 years and sold it a year ago, now that I live in SoCal where a convertable is a practical car, I needed a convertable again. This car was always a Blue plate SoCal car and I found it with 4 flats and a bad clutch master and slave. The fuel was fortunately emptied when stored. I replaced the 4 tires and had to sand blast the wheels and powdercoat them for a good seal. I also replaced the clutch master and slave and bleed the system with new fluid. I also put a new battery in and the car started right up with starter fluid only. I then replaced the fuel filter and all fuel lines to carbs. The carbs were pulled and cleaned and I replaced the choke cable. The car is smog exempt in CA and is currently registered until April 2011. The car now runs, drives and stops pretty good, even the parking brake and horn works as it should. The engine sounds great, but idles a little high. Maybe a little sticky carb or some bad vacum or diaphram to the carbs. The body is very solid and will only need minor bodywork before painting with one small spot on a rocker rusted and some surface rust on the trunk lid and tail, even the floors pans have only surface rust. The glass is all good and I have a new windshield rubber seal that should be replaced after painted. There is some sanding and a couple dents to straighten, but everything is there for the body including all the chrome trim, letters, model names and badges are there as well as all lights and lenses. The chrome bumpers are in great shape and look to never been hit at all. The interior needs some work, seats should be redone (more because of the foam than fabric) and the door panels and carpet. The only missing items are inside passenger door pull and window crank. The white top is fair and should be replaced but the frame is in great shape. This car seems to have just not been driven, I was told that the brake pads and air filters are factory original! So why am I selling this car: I have been looking for a '73-'74 JENSEN HEALEY (see last picture) to replace the MGB that I had for 22 years and I did just find one and have to pass this ULTRA LOW MILES MK 3 to someone else who will love her and drive her like I would. New tires and redone wheels with original hubcaps! No spare tire and no jack or tools. THIS IS A NO RESERVE SALE THAT STARTS AT LESS THAN 50% OF WHAT I ALREADY HAVE INTO THIS 1969 SPITFIRE Mark 3. !!!This vehicle is also advertised locally and this auction can end at anytime!!! Happy bidding and call with any questions Bruce 203-470-5701
