Vehicle Detail

This Auction is for a 1961 Cadillac, Superior Hearse. This car was an RV conversion, hence the reason its cut up. It is very solid and has minimal rust for what it is. The are areas where rust has eaten through, but it is patchable. The frame is solid as can be with surface rust only, nothing flaking off. It has all running gear. 390 v8 automatic. Runs and can be pulled on trailer, but has a timing backfire through carb. The rear end I believe is original, but has has extra leaf springs installed and larger wheels in back than in front. front has original wheels, backs are 16.5 inch. There are 2 wheel covers for front only. I bought this rig with the RV conversion done already and I stripped it down to a point where it is near ready for the body-shop. All chrome is off and labeled, and is in GREAT shape. NO dings in any chrome, interior or exterior. The dash is in GREAT shape and is original. I dont think the clock was working though... I could be wrong. The front clip is bolted on this just a few bolts, but has been off and inspected. The body panels and doors can be saved with some patching, but otherwise are straight and solid. The fenders are NOT from a normal Cadillac De ville, because Coach companies used there own panels I understand. You can NOT put 61 De ville fenders on this car, they wont work. Look at some pics and you will see that the fenders on this car look more smooth on the sides. Ive been told that to find a set of these fenders for a 61 Superior Hearse in paintabe restored shape can bring a couple thousand dollars each alone, and these can be saved fairly easy for cheap. The steering wheel and column is also in wonderful shape. I think this car is a prim Candidate for a Woody Conversion, or perhaps an El Camino.... Many possibilities here. The only chrome that missing from cab forward is the strip on the front of hood (if there even is one) and the hood emblem. The seats are from a Monza I think. The full floor is still mounted to frame. When the body was cut off, it was done from above kick panels and the wheel wells are still there as well. Solid as can be. It is titled as a "Motor Home" and is clear. It has all original vin plates and numbers all match. Everything goes together BUT is not all bolted to the car. All parts have been labeled and I can give tons of pics showing where things go. I understand that EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE FENDERS AND SEATS are normal 1961 De ville parts and are original to this car. It was the first of 50 M.J Tweedy Caddy Conversions done in the mid 60s. And I understand it sold for $12,000 in 1966 and Mr Tweedy bought himself 2 brand new Cadillacs of is own after selling this one. Any Questions? just ask. Im getting emails asking about parts on this car.... If it does not sell, I will be keeping it. It will not be parted out. Thank you.
