Vehicle Detail
1984 Lincoln Mark VII Turbo Diesel with Inline 6 cylinder BMW Engine and ZF Transmission This is a factory built car, less then 500 ever made, maybe less then 20 left in this BB edition. Up for auction is a very rare American Car with German Engineering and American styling, less than 500 ever built, much less with this Bill Blass Edition. Please see Wikipedia. I have for sale my 1984 Lincoln Continental Mark VII Bill Blass Edition with the rare 2.4lt BMW inline 6 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine with the ZF 4 speed automatic transmission. There may be less than a handful of these cars left on the road, this one maybe the most complete and well documented. Here’s the story with this car, I’m the second owner, I bought from the original owner this year, he’s 86 years old and moving to Northern California with his wife to be with their children and grand children and couldn’t take it with him. This car was bought new April 1984 at Courtesy Ford in Corpus Christi TX, had its first oil change and service on 01/10/1985 with the mileage of 6523, from there it had services every 5000 miles. In 10/07/1985 the car and its owner were in Lancaster PA with 20,124 miles, he was there for work building subdivisions as an engineer. On 12/2/1985 he and the car were back in TX now with 24, 873 miles. The car spent the next couple of years in Aransas Pass TX until it had 56,285 miles. In 1989, the car and its family moved to Mount Pleasant SC. The car stayed in Mount Pleasant ever since, driven by the lady of the house until the air shock pump went out and the car stayed parked for a couple of years. The coil spring conversion was completed in 2002, so no more air bags. This car runs and drivers like new, gets about 25 to 32 miles per gallon, on the Hwy I’ve gotten 38 miles per gallon. If you are a diesel fan, this car runs and sounds just like an 84-85 Mercedes 300 Diesel Here’s the best about this car. American Styling with German Engine and Transmission, the engine and transmission (aluminum) are the only difference between this car and the gas engine models. So getting parts is easy. The car has just over 125K miles, the speedometer was changed this month with a replacement, they are prone to going bad. The new speedometer had 44K miles last month. Still have the old one that goes with the car. Also this month, the car got new tires, less than 200 miles on them, replaced the battery in September, its less than two weeks old. New belts and service to include oil, filters, and fuel lines completed last week, this car mechanically is in perfect shape. The interior is in great original shape for being 26 years old, designed by fashion designer Bill Blass, back seats are almost perfect, very rarely used, front seats show regular use. The carpet is clean and original. Here’s a list of major repair or maintenance. New water pump and timing belt done at 101,400. Radiator Hoses and Heat Hoses replaced at 95,580 miles. Transmission oil change and filter done at 102,000 miles. Glow plugs changed at 105,300 miles. Fuel pump replaced at 107K. Power steering pump, hoses at 110,800. I have written record with dates for everything done to the car. Also with the car, comes every manual available to the dealer, manuals and electric schismatic’s . Also, parts manuals are cross reference with updated parts numbers, so anything is easy to find. Included is a couple of new parts, filter and belts for future service. Included with the car are the old modules removed from the car. This car was ahead of its time, diesel performance, smooth transmission, power everything, electric 4 disc brakes, powered and heated front seats. Now, with all electric options, there are issues. Here’s the good and the bad. Good: Power seats, Power Windows, Cruise Control, AM/FM with working cassette player, Auto Lights. Heated power seats. The bad: Power locks don’t work, haven’t found the problem. Headliner is falling down and will need to be replaced. Squeaky pulley that sometimes squeaks, but goes away after it warms up. I thinks it’s the idler pulley, no issues so not replaced. At one point, someone placed the jack to change a tire under the wrong place on the under body, it dented the bottom rail, can’t see it until you get the car up on a lift. AC and Heat work only on one setting, low fan, I think AC Control Unit is going bad, will try to get it fix before the end of the sale, but for now, it’s being sold with non working AC Besides the issues stated above, this car is in great shape, garage kept all its life, body and paint are in great shape, no known accidents and no rust, this car is 8 out of 10. Please serious bidders only, this car is very very rare, a rare turbo diesel American car, you will not see one like it anywhere. This car can be driven anywhere, will assist with picking up buyer at local Charleston SC airport, or assist with transport issues, local DAS pick up and drop off location nearby, will deliver car for free locally. Thanks and good luck. Even though I tried to list everything wrong with the car, I may have missed a thing or two that I can’t recall right now, so please email me any questions or concerns before bidding. Thanks again . Here's a short clip of engine running. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGww0D5qsVwOn Oct-09-10 at 16:23:32 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve has been lowered to $3000.
