Vehicle Detail

1994 SAAB 9000 CSE non-Turbo! 245,xxx miles Automatic transmission (with manual mode) No rust Needs paint This well worn, well used, high miles 9000 is a reliable daily driver. Just the ticket if you need a station car with strong air conditioning and you'e not easily embarrassed by bad clear cloat. A southern car, this car is rust free, except for the very minor accident damage described below. Rear shock towers and doors are rock solid. More photos at http://www.webmiscellany.net/saab/9k Speedometer. 245,322 and counting. This car does not sit still. Four nearly new Cooper radials. Probably well under 5000 miles on them. New front brakes too. And new fuel pump. Electric memory driver's seat, electric front passenger seat. Leather untorn, not awful, should clean up reasonably well. The cruise control does not work. You'll have no problems with droopy upholstery fabric on the doors because all the inserts have been removed! It really doesn't look all that bad, but would look better if some nice tan plugs could be found for the holes. More photos at http://www.webmiscellany.net/saab/9k 2.3L normally aspirated 4 cyl engine with Saab direct ignition. In June the red DI cassette went south, so it was replaced with a black spare. My tech says that's fine.  Not quite as much zip as a Turbo! car, but really, not bad. Torquey with decent acceleration. At some point this engine was rebuilt. I don't know what was replaced but it starts easily and runs well. There is a little more commotion than might be expected from a factory fresh engine, but it has been entirely reliable.  I've been running Mobil 1 0w-40 but just recently switched to Mobil 1 10w-40 at someone's recommendation. Oil is changed at 5,000 miles. Consumption is slight, under a quart between changes. The clear coat is a mess on all horizontal surfaces.  If you care, you'll need to paint this car. Slight crack in the rear fascia. Nothing too severe, but if you're a stickler... Minor dent over driver's side rear wheel arch. The paint was broken and this is the only rust on the car. Surface rust only. Note, this car is de-badged in the rear. I think it's a 9000 CSE. Power locks, power moonroof, power windows with rear window lock. All work perfectly. More photos at http://www.webmiscellany.net/saab/9k Manual automatic transmission, meaning, it doesn't shift so well. The trans pulls fine, and there's no slippage, the problem is that it upshifts too quickly. Let's say you pull away from a stop sign, as you accelerate away, the car will upshift 2-3-D way too soon, such that, you end up lugging at too low a speed.  The way to drive this car is as a manual. Place it in 1 or 2, accelerate, then manually shift up to 3 and D. Around town, 3 is always enough.  This car has the legendary tall 9000 gearing, so at highway speeds the engine is quite relaxed.  My tech says a new set of governor seals might fix the early upshift problem, but no guarantee. The quote was $279 for the job including parts and labor. Analog clock with electronic info display. I don't know if the seat heaters work, and frankly, I don't know how to test this this time of the year. The automatic climate control system works fine. The A/C blows very cold air. Has the legendary Clarion made for SAAB stereo system. It all works! Radio, cassette, CD and equalizer.  And my favorite part: WB. That's right, FM1, FM2, AM and Weather Band. Just try to find an aftermarket radio with Weather Band, and when you do let me know so I can buy one.  The electric antenna works too, but it doesn't always go down all the way. The B pillar upholstery is a mess for some reason, on both sides too. The worst part of the interior. My reputation is worth more to me than a few dollars, so ask any questions you have. I'll be completely honest and forthright. Car is located in northwest New Jersey. Will deliver within 100 miles if you buy me bus fare home.
