Vehicle Detail
For Sale: 1976 Honda Gold Wing GL1000 I purchased this bike from my neighbor in North Carolina, who purchased it from his boss. He rode the bike almost daily until it started leaking coolant, so he parked it. My neighbor bought it thinking it would be a quick fix. Once he became frustrated with removing the front cover to get to the water pump, he unloaded it on me. I am not a mechanic, so off to the Honda dealer in Hendersonville, NC it went. They replaced the water pump, all seals, timing belts, tensioners, all fluids (coolant/oil/filters), sync'd the carbs, installed new vacuum caps, new battery and checked out the electrical system. I was particularly concerned about the STAT, since if the STAT isn't producing an electric current the entire engine needs to be dropped to get to it. The Honda dealer thought I might need a rectifier, but they couldn't tell since the battery stayed charged and the rectifier changes AC to DC or vise versa (remember, I am not a mechanic). I rode the bike for a couple of months until the rear brake failed. I am told it just needs to be removed, disassemble, cleaned, and re-installed-again, I am not a mechanic. I have a lot of new, in the bag (Honda) parts for the bike. I have no idea what they go to-maybe seals and stuff for the brake. My neighbor bought hundreds of dollars of parts in a "shotgun" approach to fixing everything. I also have a new in the bag "ghost" windshield and mounting hardware. The bike comes with 2 service manuals, one Clymer and 1 factory shop manual. Tires are "newer", fenders are in excellent condition, some chrome is pitted, rims are in need of some "Never Dull". It has not been laid down, and runs very well. Needs a paint job since the existing one is faded badly. Mufflers are in good shape with no holes. Seat is not original to the bike, but is very comfortable. To the best of my knowledge as supplied by both previous owners, the mileage is correct, but no one seems to be positive. I have 100% feedback and plan on keeping it that way, so if you have questions, email me and I will answer quickly. The bike is sold "as is" and where it is. I am located in the Columbus, OH area and can assist in transportation if needed. I will entertain trades for a BMW K or R model, but would really rather sell it outright since I don't have the time to work on all my projects. I will accept cash upon pick-up: no checks, no PayPal, no money orders. Bike is advertised locally so I reserve the right to end the auction before completion.
