Vehicle Detail

1970 BMW 2800 CS Coupe VIN# 2270196 RUST FREE · General: Solid car with recent restoration. Engine bay and trunk areas are painted the exterior color of the car. Factory A/C has been eliminated. (Can be reinstalled or better yet,Vintage Air makes a better system).I’ve tried to describe the car as accurately and objectively as possible and have many high-res pictures documenting various aspects of the car’s condition that illustrate how solid the car is. It’s not often you can see the underside of the car where it was painted with the same quality as the top side. The 173,000 odometer has been changed and this mileage is not correct. I do have the gasoline log documents for the first 100,000 miles. · Mechanicals: Engine: Not the original but one that has been proven to be reliable and does not leak oil. Runs quiet and well. Transmission: 4-speed shifts well. Rear diff: Standard 3.45: 1 (non LS) Exhaust: Solid and intact Upgrades: 9-blade fan and higher capacity radiator. Optima new batteries (2009) Twin Weber’s were installed in place of Zeniths. Was customary that Zeniths were replaced with the twin Weber’s. The car is very mechanically sound and cruises easily at 75mph at 3,600rpm. The motor retains much of its originality. The fan blade was upgraded to a 9-blade unit and radiator was upgraded to a higher capacity (thicker core). All typical period, correct upgrades for this car. The battery was moved to the trunk to make the engine compartment look better. Most of the suspension bushing/mounts have been replaced. Chrome on the bumper is in very good condition with no pitting. The rubber strips are glued at few places(could use new ones to make it excellent).Any and all mechanical work on car was done by a professional BMW mechanic only. · Exterior: As another person was looking to sell his car has said, “Most importantly, the car has virtually no rust. Notice he said “virtually” because anyone that tells you a coupe has “no” rust doesn’t know where it is, is lying or just completed a rotisserie restoration.” This car has had the rotisserie work done to it as shown in the pictures. The body of this car is very solid and the important areas (A-pillar, rockers, door sills, floor pans, shock mounts, trailing arm mounts etc) are in excellent shape. A small amount of rust was repaired in the spare tire well and pin hole rust in the drivers front floor pan was repaired also. The other rust prone areas were all documented to be very clean during the interior restoration (firewall area above glove box, rear floors underneath rear seats, hand holes for headlamps and front valance/nose, as well as front/rear window frames. Verification shown in pictures, this is a rust free car that took 1 ½ years to prep and paint . Dark blue metallic paint in very good condition. Bare metal restoration re-spray started in 2006, completed in 2008. Bumpers: pre-‘73/Euro bumpers. Bright work: None missing and is in very good condition. Waist trim has been replaced. Tires: Correct tire size is 195/70/14,but the almost new tires are 195/60/14 (@2k miles). Wheels: Original 14” type in good condition with car color on inside surfaces. Also comes with Original BBS rims in trunk. Weather-stripping: Most rubber on car has been replaced and a lot more in the box (trunk). Rockers: Both inside and outer rockers have been replaced. Windows: No chips/cracks, all windows operational. Interior: Wood: Refinished (2007) Seats: Front and rear seats that were re-done in white leather (2006) Dashboard: Good condition, has one crack that just developed recently. Headliner: New but needs to be reworked to make it nice. Other: No Radio. The interior was redone before the car was finished (2007) with new carpet and re-veneered mahogany wood. Re-veneering the wood is very time consuming and costly, but the result obliviously well worth the effort (see photos). The front seats were reupholstered using white leather with blue cord piping(no head rests). The rear seats are also the matching leather. The power window motors were also redone. Wires upgrades, motors/brushes cleaned and plastic guides/channels cleaned and re-lubricated. Many other spare trim parts come with the car. Power windows work as they should. Non-sunroof car. (Desirable if you don’t want rust). I have many photos documenting the cars restoration at the various stages and will come with the car. ************************************************************************************ The CS registry states that there were less than 500 cars of this year imported in the US, with a possibility of 200 in existence. To my knowledge there are only 19, 1970 cars registered with the CS registry. None were ever built with a white interior. The deep blue metallic is a Jaguar color, the original color was Sahara. I have the Original Bill of sale and a gas log. Included with the sale is a pile of repair orders paid for by the original owner that were done in California. The chain of ownership is well documented. The many photos help illustrate my description, but you can’t buy an E9 coupe without looking at it in person, or paying a professional PPI, so your inspection are welcome. The car needs TLC to finish proper door fitment/adjustment,alignment,window adjustments and various little different things.Needs all shock absorbers. Please find out about registering the car in your state before you commit to purchase. Ask specific questions and would be happy to answer. ***I’ve tried to describe this car as comprehensively as I can and would encourage to inspect prior to purchase. Also ask questions before you bid. No returns, refunds or law suits. Sold as is where is without any lialibility***
