Vehicle Detail
Beautiful, extremely safe and SERIOUSLY fast car. Silver with gray interior. Professionally maintained with all service records. Newly balanced wheels with brand new tires and newly aligned steering. I’ve owned and loved my E55 since the spring of 2006. It’s been professionally cared for at Ben’s Workshop (http://www.bensworkshop.com/) in Austin, and I have a print-out of all that’s been done there. This car is totally stock except for some accessory power sockets and an MP3 jack in the center console. The hand-built, 348hp / 396lb/ft engine and drive-train are in terrific shape and I’d be quite happy to drive this car for a quarter million miles. The catalytic converters were replaced by Mercedes about 20,000 miles ago because of a recall. The ECU was replaced under warranty last year at the same time as the rear-main seal. The tires are brand new. Everything electrical works perfectly including the 6-disk CD changer. The interior is excellent. Options include sport seats with adjustable air bladders, though I’m not sure the side bolsters on the driver’s seat are working very well. The rear window privacy screen works great. The windows are professionally tinted with 3M film. No nav or phone were integrated in this car. What’s not perfect? The front-end has the rock chips and the windshield has all the pits you’d expect for any car with this many highway miles. There are four noticeable dings: one on the center of the roof just behind the windshield, one on the hood, one in very minor ding the driver’s side door window frame, and a one on the passenger door. The wheels have a little curb rash here and there. The steering wheel radio volume-down switch sticks. The rear brakes have squeaked while backing up since I put the ceramic pads on. There are two small cracks in the dashboard next to the passenger air-bag. 78 photos here: http://cid-588e8cd847d8f17d.photos.live.com/browse.aspx/2000%20AMG%20E55 Why am I selling it? I inherited my Dad's 540i this summer. My wife wants to keep this one, but I can't sell Dad's car. I'll deliver this car to any airport within a day's drive of Austin, TX.On Sep-27-10 at 09:37:37 PDT, seller added the following information:Response to a request for more service history: Both engine mounts were replaced along with the rear main seal and the ECM in June of 2009 at 100k miles. The ECM was replaced to fix a consistent hesitation on acceleration ("consistent with a known malfunction in the ECM"). I thought the car was fast before it had a healthy ECM! 11/2006 at 64,938 miles: "synthetic fluid transmission service: change all fluid that can be drained and replace the filter, top and replace dipstick tube cap and lock pin." The service booklet shows an A service by Mercedes in Atlanta at 29,000 miles, a B service by MB of Austin at 41k and another A service at 50k. I've taken it to Ben's workshop every 7-10k for oil changes for the past 4.5 years, whether or not the car has asked for it. New spark plugs and fuel filter at 73k miles. Power steering fluid was replaced at 81k. Crankshaft position sensor replaced at 92k. Front brake rotors replaced at 75k. I mis-remembered when the cats were replaced. That was at 73k. I'm happy to fax the service booklet and 11 page printout from Ben's Workshop. On Sep-28-10 at 05:10:40 PDT, seller added the following information:I thought bidders might enjoy a video of a cold start: http://cid-588e8cd847d8f17d.photos.live.com/self.aspx/2000%20AMG%20E55/My%20Movie.wmv I also forgot to mention that the A/C blows cold and is very effective. On Oct-01-10 at 19:33:26 PDT, seller added the following information:I forgot to mention that Ben's Workshop replaced the battery last month. I'm glad I don't sell cars on EBay very often - I'm not that good at it.On Oct-02-10 at 07:24:06 PDT, seller added the following information:Be sure to take a look at the photos link in the description above. I've uploaded a couple of new videos this morning: a walk-around, a one drive-around, and a moon-roof demonstration.
