Vehicle Detail
Mitsubishi Sigma 1990 Green 4-Door Sedan 149K 3.0L V6 VIN: JA3XB47S3LY001512 I love this car. I didn't know it at the time I purchased it, but it is a rare, collectable model from Mitsubishi that was only produced in the States from 1988-90, this being the last year model of production. It then morphed into the Galant. It has 149,096 miles. I bought this car in August of 2005 with 99K from a woman who had inherited it from her mother. Her mother was the original owner and had purchased it new in Maine. When she passed away in Florida it was registered in Arkansas to her daughter. I verified all this with Carfax before I purchased the vehicle. It has never been wrecked. In the five years I have owned it, it has never left me stranded. I have kept all maintenance receipts and have taken care of it as best I could. It has been a great, comfortable and reliable vehicle. However, I will soon be taking a job overseas and I've decided it is time to finally say goodbye to my trusty Sigma. FEATURES: - Power steering/brakes - Factory Theft Alarm System - Factory Driver's side airbag - Overdrive button - Lockable glove compartment - Four individual reading lights/fade out dome light feature - Power windows with safety locking feature and automatic one-push button on driver's window - Rear seats fold down for extra storage space. Large trunk. - Temporary spare and jack in good condition (used once) - Power locks (Sometimes it doesn't catch all 4 doors when unlocking it with the key, but it always unlocks the door. Manually locking and unlocking either of the front doors always catches all four door locks.) - Factory Air Conditioner/Heater w/ Digital Thermostat (Cold air with the original R-12 freon. I bought some R-12 on ebay once summer started this year and recharged my air conditioner. Still works!) - Factory Cruise Control (Still works! However, once it is set and you accelerate past the set speed, it doesn't always catch once you slow back down. I just tap the brake and re-set it.) - Power/Economy Mode Change-over Switch (This is an interesting feature I seldom used. It changes the shift ratio on the engine to stay in the lower gears longer in order to add more speed/power when needed.) - Factory AM/FM Stereo/Cassette Player/Equalizer w/ Steering wheel controls (Cassette player no longer works. All steering wheel controls still work - except for down volume. This button was missing when I purchased the car. I have a piece of black tape over the exposed back-light. The speakers all seem to work on some level, but I have to jiggle the balance and fader buttons to get the right mix sometimes. It's possible that one or more of them are blown. Nine-band graphic equalizer still works fine.) - The car is all original except for tinted windows on 4/19/06 (lifetime warranty, no bubbles or peeling) RECENT MAJOR WORK DONE: (all receipts kept on file) - front end alignment 7/8/10 - left front CV axle replacement 10/9/09 - alternator replacement (included battery, regulator and alternator output check) 2/9/09 - left inner CV boot replacement 1/5/09 - replaced timing and engine drive belts (125K) 10/1/08 - right front CV axle replacement 4/30/08 - new battery 8/25/07 KNOWN ISSUES/PROBLEMS: - Radiator leaks, but not too badly. I would normally top it off once a month once I noticed it leaking a few years ago. My mechanic has told me that it could possibly be repaired by a radiator shop. - Water pump is leaking and needs to be replaced asap. This will require a change of the timing belt as well. - Air conditioner belt needs to be tightened, as it squeals a bit on start up. Sometimes the intake button will switch from fresh air to recirculated. This issue occurs a few times a week. Sometimes the output vents will add another output source - defrost or floor vents. When this happens, I just push the button I want and it switches back. This issue occurs a few times a month. - Up until about six months ago, the engine used about 1/2 quart of oil per month. Since then I have used 1 or 1 1/2 quarts a month, depending on how much I drive. My mechanic (a trusted family friend for over 20 years) has told me that the engine is basically the same as used in Dodge Caravan mini-van and that it will probably need a rebuild at some point. I have recently noticed it smoking a bit when at a stoplight and he has told me this is a symptom of these engines around 150K. He said that the body seems to be in good shape and that it would probably last quite a while longer with some engine work or just another engine installed. - The recent front end alignment was to correct wearing on the inside of the right front tire which wore down to the wire before I noticed it. All tires are now in good shape. - Front left side light has a broken inner attachment which has caused it to come loose from the housing. I have used clear packing tape over it to keep it in place. It is possible it could be repaired by someone more mechanically inclined. Still works fine. (See photo) - Lights in passenger side visor mirror no longer work. SUMMARY: Body has some small bumps in places (hail damage?) but is in good shape overall. Chrome on front grill has a few cracks. (See photo) Rubber trim on left rear door is pulled away. (See photo) I would rate the body a 6 or 7 out of 10. Original paint is in pretty good shape and still has a nice shine left when washed. There are a few discolored spots as well as some peeling and scratches in places. (See photos) I would rate the paint a 6 or 7 out of 10. Interior seats are clean and in nice shape with no rips or tears. There are very few small stains but overall in good condition. The trim is pulling away from the driver's window controls. (See photo) All instrument displays work properly. I would rate the interior and seats a 7 or 8 out of 10. Floorboards have some stains and a few small (cigarette?) burns on the passenger's side. However, I have never smoked in the car. No rips or tears. I would rate the floorboards a 6 or 7 out of 10. BUYER INFO: Owner's manual, title and maintenance history/receipts (also from original & previous owner) will be included to the winning bidder. I have never sold or bought a car on ebay and am not a car expert, mechanic or dealer. The car is being sold as-is, with no returns or refunds. I have attempted to describe the vehicle to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any problems which may occur after purchase. Buyer is to arrange for local pickup or transport/shipping. I live about 10 miles from Little Rock, Arkansas. Without repairing the water pump, I do not recommend it be driven for any extended period of time. I reserve the right to cancel any bids from buyers who have less than 10 feedback points. Please email with any questions or extra photo requests. I have many extra photos I have not posted on ebay and am happy to send them to any interested bidders. Good luck!
