Vehicle Detail
I am the second owner, I have purchased it over three years ago from the original owner in VA. This was a German delivery car. My intention was to bring the car to its original condition. I began with correction some of the mechanical issues. I have had the AC compressor replaced and converted soon after I purchased the car. At this point however, it does not blow cold, I'm not sure what the issue is. I have had the oil leak fixed but it is leaking again and I can't figure out where it's coming from. Transmission has been serviced, I had the pan replaced as well as the filter and its working well, there are no leaks. I have had the front tie rods replaced along with the steering damper. The front suspension could use some more reconditioning. The steering wheel is straight and has just a regular amount of play in it. There are no issues wiht the way the car drives or steers. The engine runs very well, does not smoke, it starts with ease and smooth idle. A brand new starter has been installed as well. All glow plugs have been replaced. The valves have been recently adjusted. There are no issues with the turbo it pulls very well at all speeds. I believe that the universal joint on the drive shaft may need attention at some point. Last month I drove the car on a 200 mile trip and it ran very well, there were no issues at all. The interior is leather and it's original but as you can seen from the pictures it could use some reconditioning and updating. Both front windows are working very well, both small rear windows do not work. The sunroof is working very well and so does the antenna. The cruise control does not work, central locking does work but the fuel door does not. The dash board does have few cracks in it please, see the picture. 'The body could use a paint job. There are only three rust areas and I have taken photos of all of them. It is very straight and to my knowledge there has been no accidents. All four tires are in average conditon and have plenty life left in them. I have purchased this car with the intentions of having it restored. In my opinion, it is a great candidate to be brought back to its original condition. I have described the condition of this car as best as I possibly could. Of course, this is only based on my knowledge and opinion. Should you have questions please, just ask. Lastly, the car is advertised for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel this auction prior to its ending. I further ask that you don't bid if you don't have the funds or if you have no intentions of finalizing this transaction on my terms. I suspect that if you are looking at this car you know all about these 123 coupes and how rare they are becoming. The buyer is responsible for pick up. I can assist in shipping, if required but the buyer is resposible for all associated expenses. I thank you all for looking. On Sep-19-10 at 14:57:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Update on the universal joints, I did have a mechanic look the car over, earlier today. There's an issue with the drive shaft u-joint it is making a clinking noise while shifting down. I was told that to have the u joints replaced and the shaft re-balanced it woud be $400 or so. I just wanted to update my listing to make sure that everything is disclosed properly. One other thing I have failed to mention, the glove box needs attention. I do have the necessary parts purchased at the dealership, they will go with the car.
