1949 Chevrolet C10 3100 Short-Step-Side “SHOP TRUCK” Take a look at this "SHOP TRUCK". This 1949 Chevy 3100 short step side pick-up has had a lot of updates from when it was built by GM back in 1949 and is my son’s daily driver. I was told by the previous owner that the engine was a 307cubic inch, but I have not checked the numbers. I was also told that the transmission was a 2 speed that was used in Chevrolet's back in the late 60's. This truck also has a 1971 Chevy Camaro front sub-frame with the power steering and power disc brakes and what looks to be a 68/72 Nova rear-end that is geared just right to drive highway speeds with out any trouble. We just drove it on a 200 miles trip to the Frog Follies in Evansville, IN and it set out on the interstate and ran like a champ! We figure that it average 17-18 mpg! It has old black primer on the outside and new black carpet and a "mexican" blanket for the seat cover. We have added a new set of American Racing Torque Thrust "D" wheels with 15x7 on the front with 205/75x15 tires that have about 50% tread on them and 15x81/2 on the rear with 255/70x15 tires that have about 75% tread on them. We have also added a AM-FM-CD Stereo in the glove box and also a new treated wood floor in the bed. We use this truck daily and it runs and drives great and turns heads anywhere you drive it. I will have this truck at the Fall Rod Run in Pigeon Forge, TN September 16th through 18th if you would like to take a look at this sweet little rat-rod shop truck!
