Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1999 Suzuki Bandit 1200S (GSF1200S). This is a fantastic bike. Half a dozen years ago I used to ride with a group of motorcyclists, and one of them was the original owner of this Bandit. I contacted him recently, and asked if he still had this bike. He said he did, but that it had been in storage for quite a while. I purchased it from him and got it ready for the road. My intention was to use it as a touring bike, but I just don't have time to do that. The bike has been thoroughly serviced within the last month. It has had the tank cleaned and resealed (just to clean the tank, it wasn't leaking), the carbs have been cleaned and synchronized, new air filter, oil and filter change, new spark plugs, cables lubed, all DOT4 bled and replaced, chain serviced and a new battery. It runs great. When the engine is cold it sometimes takes a few presses on the starter button (starts up immediately when warm), but it always starts. The engine is powerful and fast. Tires and brake pads are all good to go. The bike has always been adult owned and garage kept. Since the weather looks good this week I will probably ride it to/from work a couple times. Mileage by the end of the auction may be another 100 miles or so. The original owner must have tipped the bike over once, because there are a few spots on the left side that appear to be covered by touch up paint (see photos where I'm pointing at the spots). They were never a big deal to me. The gas cap also shows some discoloration due to the chemicals used to reseal the tank. Items that go with the bike include its Haynes Service Manual, a luggage rack, an engine guard kit, an extra set of mirrors and an extra muffler. I have the bike's clear title in hand. The buyer is responsible for arranging pick-up of the motorcycle. On Sep-17-10 at 20:18:31 PDT, seller added the following information: For sale is my 1999 Suzuki Bandit 1200S (GSF1200S). The bike takes some patience starting when it's cold. It starts, but does require repeated pressing on the starter button and some feathering of the throttle until it warms and settles at idle. My suspicion is that the vacuum petcock may have some parts needing replacement. I don't know if the original owner changed the jet sizes, and the fact it comes with an extra OEM muffler makes me wonder if the installed muffler has been modified for more open breathing. Were I to keep this bike, I would work on fixing this starting situation. As I mentioned, the bike starts easily after it has been started earlier in the day, and runs extremely well. I'm also looking for the spare key for the bike. If I find it after the sale, I will mail it to the new owner. But, I may not find it. I will contact the current high bidder to ensure he sees these comments. If he wishes to withdraw his bid, no problem. It's honestly a great bike with many more miles left in it.
