Vehicle Detail
First of all, please check my feedback and know you are dealing with a trusted seller. Up for auction is this 1962 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport. Car is originally Roman Red with red interior. At some point it has been painted a darker red. The interior is all there, bucket seats, original red '62 console (chrome '63 console not included). All of the trim on the car is included as well and the side trim is very straight and nice. The only trim missing is the rocker trim on both sides and the front hood trim. I bought the car with another '62 Impala SS and was going to combine them, but I feel as though this car is still worth restoring as is and don't want to take it apart. The car is mostly original except the engine which I believe is a later model 350. It still has the powerglide which works fine. The car runs and drives, the engine seems very healthy, but could use a carb rebuild as it doesn't want to idle, however, out on the road it runs fine. Car will need a gas tank and sending unit. The old one was rusty inside. I have already removed the old tank and pitched it. You can get tanks brand new, free shipping for about $130. Car is driving off of a temporary gas tank under the hood. I drove it home 30 miles this way just fine. It will be no problem to load/unload the car under it's own power. The floors have been replaced by previous owner, they did a nice job, they aren't the factory stampings, but fit nicely and are heavy gauge metal with nice welds and are very solid. Seats have been reinstalled. Car comes with all of the original door panels and interior trim some of which has been removed to begin restoration. Original headliner is intact and not sagging, but it is yellowed and will need replaced eventually. Car is a midwest car and has typical midwest rust. It will need lower rear quarter patches, inner/outer rockers and lower front fender patches. None of the rust is above the body line. Back window area is solid. Trunk is solid minus a few thin spots. Back pan is decent. The worst rust is under the car toward the rear behind the rear axles. Will need floor supports, etc. All of the glass is present. Drivers door glass is off track but still rolls up and down. All of the other windows roll up and down. Passenger wing is plexiglass. Fron windshield has some wiper rash but it's just on the surface and would probably polish out, not too bad at all. I believe someone has added power steering probably done at the time of the motor swap. They welded a bracket to the frame to mount the power steering cylinder, but it was poorly done with a stick welder. The front end is straight, the power steering works fine, the car drives straight, but that mount should be redone properly. A good welder could clean it up easily. Wheels and tires are just on too move the car around and shouldn't be used except for a very short drive. The last photo is obviously not this car, but is the same car restored to show you the potential of this '62 Impala SS. I've done my best to describe the car accurately. In a nutshell, you have an original '62 Impala SS in restorable condition, that, with a little work, could be driven and enjoyed while you restore it. I have priced it fairly. E-mail questions or concerns, I will provide my phone number to serious bidders. I will also be adding more photos of the trim and interior pieces off of the car. I will also be providing trim tag and vin #'s, I just don't have the car with me at the time of this posting. Winning bidder must arrange shipping or pick the car up in person. I will be happy to load the car on a transport or drive it a short distance to help with shipping. On Sep-09-10 at 05:49:42 PDT, seller added the following information: As promised, I provided a few more photos of the trim.
