Vehicle Detail
This was my college car, but I went to college in my 30's, so I took excellent care of it, but previous owners weren't so kind. This is what I was told when I bought the car. It was originally an Enterprise rental. The last owner had it repo'd and broke into it later to get their stuff. They possibly broke one of the convertible latches, but they definitely ripped out the trunk lock. (you can still open the trunk using the interior latch.) I bought a new replacement lock and had it key cut, but I haven't had it installed yet. It is just the lock, not the exterior little metal circle, etc. I had the top latch professionally replaced and the top tightened at Stanley Wood Chrysler, bought a replacement boot cover, had a 300.00 JVC radio professionally installed by Circuit City, as well as giving it a top of the line tune up. The car ran great the first 10,000 miles I owned it and I had no problem with the top going up or down, it's just a little slow (I think, this is my first convertible). No leaking, but in a really hard driving rain, you might feel occasionally spritzed when driving at freeway speeds. At about 129,000 miles the car overheated and shutdown. I was told by the fellows at Stanley Wood that it is a computer safety feature of the car to save the engine, etc. from overheating. I spent 1600.00 having them put in a new water pump and timing chain. The car ran great again for the next 5,000 miles, but then the cam sensor went out and I had Stanley Wood replace it. After that I started to hear a knock in the engine and the oil light comes on when the engine warms up, and since I am a teacher and I commute 100 miles a day, I needed something reliable, so I bought a little toyota and drove the chrysler less and less, until I finally ended up parking it in the carport.Stanley Wood told me (over the phone) it would probably be upwards 3,500.00 to have the engine fixed, they didn't look at it, though. It has only been started and driven twice in the last 6 months, including this morning. I had to jump the battery to get it started. I drove it about a mile up and down our road, but the engine sounds really bad. This car does run, but I would not take the chance on it going very far. Please understand if you purchase this car, you will need to haul it away, But you should be able to jump it and easily drive onto a trailer with it. The body and convertible top are in good shape, but have a couple issues. Of course, there is no trunk lock, some idiot screwed a vanity plate into the front so there is a small screw hole just above the grill, the grill is damaged and there was some damage to the top that was repaired (does not leak). The interior needs to be vacuumed, but there are no cracks or anything in the plastic. All the upholstry is in excellent shape except the backseat has a small cigarette burn? I don't smoke, so there is no longer any smoke smell, but there was some when I bought it. I have put pictures with all these details so you can see them. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. It was a great car while I had it, and caused me to fall in love with convertibles forever, but I just can't fix it myself and my husband says it can't stay in the carport anymore, so it needs to go byebye. Auction details: No Reserve! 250.00 minimum payment required within 48 hrs of Auctions end. No refund unless car is not as described with text or pictures. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. P.S. The top will have be tightened down again, it was rattley when I drove it this morning. I had it tightened when I had the latch replaced and then at the end of the first summer, it seems to need a tightening when you put the top up and down alot after a couple months.
