Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my all original (except engine work) Ford Capri. Sunroof model!!!! History I was buying two BMW's from a guy local to me and he mentioned that he had a car in the garage that I may be interested in. This was it. He had purchased the car new in PA. Drove it for 90k miles. During a regular service they told him that the plastic timing gear could become a problem and that it should be replaced with a new metal upgrade. While having this done he had the heads done by a local shop indicating that they had been reworked a bit. Not sure and have no details on what was done. He brought the car home and put it up on jack stands to install a new exhaust he had purchased. That was in 1983. There it sat until 6 months ago when I bought it in a package deal. What you see is what I got besides cleaning and repainting the wheels and a few other minor mechanical things. The Car The car really is solid. It has no rust really to speak of besides some minor surface spots here and there from paint chips then sitting so long. The car starts right up and runs great. It does not smoke or leak at all. The engine feels strong and sounds great. Thge trans is tight and shifts smooth. Everything works on the car including the pass. side a pillar mount map light. The map light is on that side because of the apparently rare sunroof option. The original paint looks great for an average driver but could certainly use a respray. The car is super clean underneath with the color still showing in all the wheel wells. The floorboards and rockers are rust free as well. The interior is in fantastic condition with only a few minor flaws. The exhaust is NOS. The Bad In 1982 the car was hit in the back by a beetle and never repaired. The damage is minor and should be no problem to fix however the bumper is toast. The brakes work but grab unevenly and sometimes don't disengage sometimes so it will need brake work or maybe it will work it self out since I have only driven it a few miles. The drivers seat has a small tear and the top of one of the rears has a small tear. The shift knob is missing the cap. The car needs tires. A few minor door dings here and there. Minor paint chips here and there. The car should get a good once over before it goes on the road. What you see in the pics is what you get. Need a specific shot let me know. The car should get a good once over before it goes on the road.
