Vehicle Detail
2002 BMW R1150RT Motorcycle For sale is a very nice, low mileage (9,267 miles) 2002 BMW R1150RT touring motorcycle. This cycle has always been garaged and has never been laid over or involved in any accidents. Bike has never been abused and is in immaculate condition. Stabil fuel additive was used during times when motorcycle was not in use. Battery tender was always used when bike was not in use. All recalls and service bulletins that were issued for this motorcycle have been performed by a BMW dealer. I have always used BMW motor oil & filters which were changed every 3K miles. The BMW service manager recommended that I use this oil for 10K miles or so in order to seat the piston rings properly. After 10K miles, he said that I could then start using fully synthetic motor oil which is what I had planned on doing. This bike has ABS and also has a lot of extras. This bike is definitely set up for anyone who wants to do some serious touring and it is ready for those long road trips. The following is a detailed listing of the extras and specifics for this motorcycle: 1. Almost new Metzler steel belted radial tires, both front & rear. Molding nubs are still present. 2. Transmission & differential fluids changed over to Red-line synthetic type fluids. 3. Bushtec trailer hitch with 1 7/8” ball. Bushtec wiring harness included if you need to connect to a Bushtec trailer. NOTE: This was the first Bushtec trailer hitch ever installed on an R1150RT motorcycle. They used my bike to make the pattern. 4. Midland CB radio system a. Radio attaches quickly to handle bars (see photo) b. Radio powered by motorcycle wiring c. Radio can be removed from handle bars and used as handheld CB radio by using auxiliary battery pack & portable antenna OR stored in lockable glove/storage box when leaving bike unattended. d. Remote push to talk/transmit button on handle bars e. Large CB car type antenna. NOTE: SWR has never been adjusted. f. Helmet mounted microphone and inside the helmet type ear muff speakers are include g. All cabling for connecting the radio to the helmet microphone & speakers is included. Connector comes out of fairing at convenient location for connection to helmet wiring. 5. BMW top case that is lockable and easily removable. Ignition key fits top case and side cases. No extra keys are needed. 6. BMW side case with extra deep lids for a lot more storage. I still have standard side case lids which are included with the bike. Side cases are lockable and easily removable. 7. Rear padded back rest for passenger. Back rest is attached to top case. 8. Weatherproof bike cover and storage bag 9. LED taillight bulbs have been installed. 10. LED light bar over license plate. Wired to light up with taillights and flashes when brakes are applied. 11. European headlight switch had been added. This allows operator to turn off headlights when not needed such as when starting the bike or running the bike during certain servicing/maintenance operations. I still have the original USA style switch which is included with the bike. 12. Clear headlight & light assembly protectors to prevent damage from rocks etc. The protectors are removable and attach with Velcro dots. 13. Tall windshield screen. Standard OEM windscreen included with bike. 14. BMW comfort seat has been installed. Standard (narrower) OEM seat is included with the bike. 15. I purchased a Staintune free flow exhaust system which I installed on the bike. However, this exhaust interfered with the Bushtec trailer hitch mounting and I had to go back to the standard OEM exhaust. The Staintune exhaust is NOT on the bike, but goes with the bike. However, if you do not want the Staintune exhaust, I will reduce my reserve price by $400. 16. Handle bar twist throttle lock at end of right handle bar. This lock can be used as a throttle lock type of cruise control. 17. Engine guards. Guards mount on top of cylinder heads. 18. Elf Highway bars. Fold out type highway foot rests allow changing of feet position on those long rides. These fold out highway bars are costly, but nice to have. 19. Stainless steel fairing bolt kit. All steel Allen head type fairing bolts have been replaced using stainless steel bolts. 20. Mirror safety catch wires. These wires keep the mirrors from hitting the ground if a mirror is accidentally knocked off of the bike. 21. Two helmet locks. These locks attach to the locking handle of the side cases. 22. BMW power outlet socket adapter that provides a normal cigarette lighter style socket connector is included. 23. Quick oil change system is installed. A drain plug does not have to be removed and installed. All hardware & hose is included with the bike. 24. Tool kit, all owner’s manuals, and all keys that came with the bike are included. 25. Bike has a glove/storage box conversion. Bike was originally set up & wired for installation of an optional vertical mounted radio/CD player. However, all reviews showed that this vertical mount system was not satisfactory and was prone to CD skip. I removed all of the radio wiring and frame and installed an optional BMW glove/storage compartment. I still have all of the wiring and hardware to convert it back, but I would recommend a shelf mounted type radio and CD player for this bike. 26. Techlusion Performance Corporation Fuel Injection Control Unit part number TFI-1030 installed on this bike. I have this unit setup for the basic configuration which gives smoother operation than stock and eliminates any potential possibility of surging during low speed operation. However, this unit can be adjusted for higher performance. I have the documentation and instructions for setup of this unit. This information is also available at www.techlusion.com . 27. Reflective material that lights up brightly by car headlights installed on top case and side cases. Increased visibility for added safety when riding at night. 28. Side stand foot peg has been made larger by use of foot peg attachment that clamps to foot peg. This provides a larger surface area to prevent foot peg from sinking into asphalt on those very hot days. 29. Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) with auto proportioning brake control. Using either the front or rear brake individually or both brakes at the same time will result in automatic proportioning of the front and rear brakes to give the quickest and smoothest braking. Great safety feature for emergency stopping when the road is wet since this ABS system makes it less likely to slip or skid out. 30. New battery was installed a year or two ago, and an anti corrosion battery mat was installed. As you can see this bike is in immaculate condition and needs nothing. It is ready to ride. I would recommend changing the oil at 10K miles and going to a fully synthetic type oil. Acceptable payment is cash at time of pickup. Certified funds such as Cashier’s checks are also an acceptable means of payment. For payment by certified funds, a Bill of Sale will be issued to purchaser at time of purchase, but the title will not be mailed to the purchaser until it is verified that the funds have been credited to my account, which can take 2 -3 weeks. PayPal is also acceptable method of payment, but I prefer other payment methods because of the high PayPal fees. On Jul-25-10 at 20:58:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that I will throw in the battery tender that I have been using on this bike. The charging cable has the special BMW accessory plug. NOTE: There is a lot of glare & reflection on the gauges since the photos were shot outside in the bright sun. The gauges are perfectly clear and have no yellowing or discoloration.
