Vehicle Detail

This is a 1953 MGTD. It was purchased by my father in 2003 from a guy in Texas. He was the second owner and bought it from California. The whole time it has been up in WI it has been stored in a temperature controlled garage, never been exposed to rain, and only driven on dry days. The odometer is exempt and has been since we've owned it. It is broken. I would guess we've put less than 500 miles on it over the past 7 years. The paint is not original, I believe this is the third color it's been. It looks great from as close as 5 ft., if you loom closer you will find a couple minor chips, the largest one is shown in the picture. The upholstery was also done sometime before we bought it, and is still in great condition. The clock doesn't work and the windshield wipers only do when they feel like it. I've never had it in the rain anyways. The tires are new and have less than 200 miles on them. I have the top and windows under the back cover but haven't even looked at them in years since I haven't had to use them. I don't know much about MG's, and haven't had to learn because this one takes one jump at the beginning of summer and then starts up and would usually run strong the rest of the season. Everything, as far as the engine and body goes, is very close to original. Any work that has been done since we've owned it was either done by Ed, an older man that I met in the MG club that has been dealing with MG's his whole life and actually raced them in the 50's, or MG limited, a local MG shop that only works on MG's. And it was nothing major. This is why I don't know a whole lot about this car, whenever it needed something fixed, which was rare, it was done by professionals. And I have close to all of the paperwork from myself and the previous owner to show what has been done. What I do know is that I can start it right up and drive it around like a normal car. Of course, being original it's top speed is around 55 or 60 mph. It does drip a little oil, which I believe is pretty typical for these cars. I am selling it because we haven't barely used it the past two summers, and Ed always told me these things love to be driven. So, I think it should go to someone who has time for it. The starting bid is less that what we paid for it in 2003. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs but I will gladly help ship anywhere in the continental USA. I reserve to end the auction early.
