Vehicle Detail

1990 Honda Pacific Coast (PC800) - 800cc water cooled V-twin, shaft driven with large trunk and GIVI box. I have owned this for several years (since it had 28k miles) and it has been an outstanding and reliable ride. It now has 34300 miles on it and I haven’t really rode it since I got a Honda Silverwing scooter. The scooter works better for in town for me as I live 2 blocks from work and never really get more than 5 miles from home. That is hardly enough time to warm up the larger bike. The Good: It is low miles and should be around for quite a while before anything major has to be done to it. It is reliable. Not fancy, but it will get you where you are going and has room for groceries, helmets and enough space for a weekends luggage. You won’t have to lug your hat around with you or a backpack. It is way better for the highway than my smaller bikes. It has good rubber. You should have several thousand miles before addressing that. It starts right up and runs fine. Since it is water cooled, it will perform better in city traffic in the summer than a comparable air cooled bike. It has an extra tall Rifle fairing that makes it really nice on the freeway and the road. The Bad: It could use some routine maintenance. A tune up wouldn’t hurt. I have never changed the plugs and am sure it would benefit from that. I have placed a lawnmower battery from Auto Zone in the right side of the trunk. It is less than half as expensive as the battery that goes in the body section just in front of it. This works better than the one designed in and you will be pleased with the change if your winters are cold and your use infrequent. If it offends your sensibilities, It will work with the recommended replacement. I did no surgery to the harness and the change can happen in less than an hour. For my use and my money, the modification works better, but for a legal disclaimer I must insist that you change it back if you are the type that gets all litigious. The Ugly: The paint job is totally bleached out from the Texas sun. The seat cover is ripped but the foam underneath seems to be fine. I am including a new cover that is easy enough to install if you have a staple gun and the desire to do so, or you can take it to an upholstery shop and have it done right (I recommend the latter). I could have had it painted and upholstered and it would have sold for far more, but that would be kind of sleazy. It is and should be your option. I really don’t ride it anymore and it is too good a bike just to let it fall prey to entropy. It needs someone to ride it and care for it. This is a classic bike that is largely unmolested. It has current title and tag. It is sold as is, where is and with just enough start price to cover listing fees. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Funds must clear before transfer of item and title can occur. If you have questions on terms, please write me. Good luck.
