In 1963, for the fifth year in a row, the full-size Ford line was completely restyled. As in 1962, the sides were devoid of any sculpture lines, except for the belt level feature line. The model designation was carried in script on the fender immediately behind the front wheel opening. Once again, the taillights were large round units mounted at the top of the rear fenders, with a stamped aluminum escutcheon panel being used on the Galaxie 500 series. The model designation was spelled in block letters across the trunk lid. The grille was a full width aluminum stamping again carrying a horizontal grid and featuring a large Ford crest in the center, which was actually the hood release. The word FORD was spelled out in block letters across the hood. Ford Motor Company only built 36,876 Body Style Number 65 in 1963, this is an outstanding mechanical and cosmetic example, originally a North Carolina car and was purchased in Florida, the car is registered now in Rhode Island and has been in Rhode Island since purchase in 2001, when purchased the odometer read 98,000 miles and now reads 101,050 miles, that is only 3,050 miles over the last 10 years, stunning black paint with contrasting turquoise interior and brilliant white top, the original 352ci motor was upgraded with a 390ci 300hp V8 motor (sounds great!) and automatic transmission was updated and has a.column shifter, power steering, power brakes, white power top (with tourquoise boot cover) with clear back window, AM radio, heater, all mechanical,electrical parts and instruments are in working order including the glove box light, courtesy light and even the clock keeps accurate time and clicks, brakes and brake lines were replaced (2002), car is in good original condition, always garaged, runs and drive excellent, excellent paint, interior ( dash and door panels are very good, the driver side door shows some wear behind the rest, the steering wheel has a few cracks in it (both the door wear and wheel are pictured), the carpets, top and bench seat covers were replaced (2008), dual exhaust replaced (2006), Ravin mufflers, an after-market metal continental kit was professional installed using the original bumper, the kit works properly and is very easy to operate to open the trunk and fill the gas tank, fender skirts were added, both the continental kit and skirts were painted to match the new interior, good chrome, the side aluminum escutcheon panels show minor wear, new front and rear seals, exceptionally clean and solid car, good body with no rust or rot, the door sills and door jams are excellent, all glass is good, some parts under hood have been chromed ( the original air cleaner, carburetor and valve covers will go with the car), undercarriage is very good with no rust or rot, well maintained with all repair records from date of purchase from current owner. A reproduction owners maual is included. NADA lists high retail at $22,885. This Vintage Ford is being sold in "As Is" condition. The Classic Galaxie is being offered at a lower price and any reasonable offer will be seriously considered.
