Vehicle Detail
This is a "Rare" 1992 Convertible Trans-Am. Only 1 of 663 ever made in convertible. I bought this vehicle in April 2007, it had 124,063 miles on it. I used it as a daily driver, having it approximately 3 years and 3 months, the mileage now reads 151,215. It was driven 9,050 miles per year. Having a V8 engine in it, this TransAm has some power to it. I have flowmasters installed with 4 custom chrome exhaust tips sticking out of the rear to give it the aggressive look, furthermore, it sounds great, loud deep rumble. No modifications were made to motor or trans of any kind. Engine has always been maintained and kept very clean. The soft top is around 2 years old, with a glass back window versus the old plastic one which discolored. The seats inside are 5 way power all leather seats that need to be connected. The NEGATIVES are: - The A/C does not function properly, I am not mechanically inclined so I don't know how to fix it. - The front bumper has a dent in it when I accidently hit the garage wall inside, no structural damage, just to the plastic bumper. - The seats needs to be rewired below to function the 5 way power. - Steering Wheel air bag is in place but needs to be connected. The POSTIVES are: - Rare only 663 of these convertibles in this year ever made. - Clifford Screen Alarm System installed with automatic door look/unlock, automatic car start/stop, automatic trunk open/close. Handheld pocket screen shows the vehicle and if it has been tampered with and exactly where. - Fairly new black cloth top with glass back window - Flowmaster exhaust system with 4 custom chrome exhaust tips sticking out of the back with a deep aggressive sounding engine - All leather 5 way power seats inside - Brand new black carpet interior - Aftermarket CD player installed *REMINDER: THIS IS A USED VEHICLE, ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND SELLING VEHICLE AS IS. ASK PLENTY OF QUESTIONS. This marked the final production year for the Third Generation platform. Release of the Fourth Generation model was imminent, and Pontiac made few changes to the 1992 Firebird. Due to its lighter weight and improved aerodynamics the Firebird Convertible was finally available through GM's normal ordering procedures. ASC still converted T-top cars into convertibles but the ordering process was simplified and dealers would no longer need to have the cars drop shipped to ASC in Michigan. The Convertibles were offered with one of three engine options: LHO 3.1L V6, the L03 5.0L V8 for the base Firebird, or the LB9 5.0L V8 Trans Am only. Final year for third generation platform. 1992 provided few changes in the 1992 Pontiac Firebird models. Mid-year tuned port injected cars received blank throttle body plates rather than the "TUNED PORT INJECTION" plates of prior years, and black painted valve covers rather than the previous years silver components. The end of the L98 in the Corvette led to rough cast runners finding their way into L98 birds. Some '92 Firebird models received special rubber snubbers on the rear hatch frame designed to make the hatch more stable. Very few 1992 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am's, GTA's, and 1992 Firebird Formula's were produced this year as some buyers were waiting for the new 93. 1992 Pontiac Firebird Production Numbers Year Total Production Firebird Firebird Convertible Formula Formula 1LE Trans Am Trans Am 1LE Trans Am Convertible GTA Firehawk 1992 27,569 22,499 1,265 1,017 22 969 9 663 508 17
