Vehicle Detail

Pictured is a 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that is just about ready for paint. The original color of this Mach 1 is Medium Bright Yellow with Black Mach 1 Trim. The cut in of the door jams, trunk, etc, has already been finished in this color. However, I thought since I am selling this Mach 1, I would let the new owner choose his or her own exterior color. Since the interior is black, the car will be painted for the new owner any original color. As you can see, the Front and Rear valances have already been trimmed out in black, and the trim under the door body line will also be Painted black (not a decal!) so the buyer should keep in mind that the color selection should go with black trim, as I am not, at this point willing to repaint the trim color. The hood may also be trimmed out with the black at the purchasers option. The interior will be all new, and new headliner has already been installed, and carpet and underlayment purchased. The new owner also has the option of Dark Blue with Blue Stripe front and rear seats, or Black on Black seats as I have both available, but again, keep in mind the carpet and headliner are black. I mention the blue seats as a option if the purchaser wishes an exterior color that would match up with this color seats. This Mach 1 is optioned out with a 351 2v engine with NASA Ram Air, FMX Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, full gage package, console, and Factory Air Conditioning. A new gas tank has been installed as well as new sending unit. New Dual exhaust will be installed as well. New brakes all the way around have already been installed, including new front caliphers. This is an opportunity to have it your way, at least as far the exterior color. Of course the car will be painted with basecoat clearcoat paint, and sparkle like new upon completion. When I obtained this car, it had been painted several times so all of the old layers of paint had to be removed to get to where the car needed to be for proper body and paint refinishing. This vehicle will be sold as is once completed with no warranties expressed or implied. If you ever wanted a Mustang Mach 1 like this with your choice of color, here it is. Car is listed locally therefor I reserve the right to end this auction early. I anticipate this car will be ready to go within the next 30 days. I will ship this car anywhere in the world at the purchasers expense. Any questions simply ask. As a side note: I will also have a 1973 Mustang Convertible, white interior, 302 2v, C-4 Trans, coming up for sale. This car may also be purchased in the exterior color of your choice once I decide to list it.On Jul-16-10 at 12:08:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Question asked by EBay Member: Okay so please bear with me here I will receive a complete running car if I win this auction? complete with paint job and new complete interior? Answer: Yes that is correct. Car run and drives great. New Paint with your choice of original colors, and new interior, includes new carpet, new upholstery front and rear, new headliner, and new sail panels. On Jul-17-10 at 16:55:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Question from EBay Member: How will you determine the exact color I would like to have the car painted? Answer: The winning bidder will either provide the paint code off of a color chart, which may found at any automotive paint store, or online, (Simply Google "Automotive Paint Codes") or will provide the year, make, model, and paint code from the vehicle of the color desired. The paint codes on many vehicles are found inside the drivers door on the jam. In any case, the base coat color will be mixed to the specifications the purchaser desires. The exterior paint will be a base coat - clear coat paint process. Chameleon colors and may be also be done but at additional cost due to the expense of the paint and the process involved in painting chameleon colors. The Base Coat Clear Coat paint process is included in the winning bid. This is a deal as quality base coat clear coat paint jobs are seldom less than $3000-, especially the way this Mach 1 is being prepared for painting. Good luck.On Jul-18-10 at 06:14:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Question from EBay Member: Hello and good luck with your auction. This sounds like a great deal. If I win, I will choose some nice red exterior and complete black interior. What type of wheels will be on the car. It appears to be the Magnum wheels, but I am not for sure. How long will it take to complete the process when the aution is complete? Thanks and good luck. Answer: Hi, I have a gorgeous bright red that I am using for my 65 Convertible that would look great on this Mach 1. Very similar to the Mach 1 in Diamonds are Forever. Yes, it comes with the pictured Magnum 500 wheels and Mustang center caps, which are not pictured. I estimate I have about 3 weeks or so to completion from the end for this auction. Right now I am going around the car to ensure there are as few flaws in the overall body as possible, also remaining of course is the paint, where the door jams will have to be redone if the purchaser does not wish the Medium Bright Yellow that has already been cut into the jams and doors, and the new seat upholstery. Also new dual exhaust will need to be installed. This is the first time I am selling a car painted to the customers desire so this is interesting to me as well. Bottom line is once the auction is over, I want to get the car to the new owner as quickly as possible. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for your interest and good luck on your bidding. On Jul-18-10 at 12:14:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Question from EBay Member: Ok - so you are telling me that you will paint this car the paint color of MY choice and with completely new upholstery? Sounds like a great deal. I have never seen anything like this on EBay before. Answer: Absolutely correct. Your choice of color and new upholstery. I have not seen anyone offer this on EBay as well with a classic Mustang, but I'm sure I am not the first person to do this. Since I doing this car strictly for sale, I thought it would be nice for the purchaser to choose his or her exterior own color, and would add added value to this particular purchase for the buyer. Since virtually anything goes with a black exterior the sky is essentially the limit in this case. More work for me, as I indicated in a previous answer, the door jams and other parts of the car have already been cut in in the Medium Bright Yellow, which is gorgeous with the black trim and is the original color of this car, but not everyone likes black and I felt it would benefit the purchaser as well as myself to have this option. Thanks and good luck.On Jul-19-10 at 10:41:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Questions from EBay Member: So to be clear, 1) you would paint the vehicle does this include the 2 tone scheme. So say yellow or red primary and the black on the hood? Yes - two tone paint scheme - if you will look at the front and rear valance pictures, you will see the black has already been painted on those parts - so yes, red & black; yellow & black, blue and black, whatever you want and black. 2) Do you have the Mach 1 decals and stripng and is it included as well? No the Mach 1 Decals are not included, but I will be happy to have them installed if you wish to provide them. 3) For the interior, is it the original dash or new? If original, what shape is it in? Yes, the dash is new, has already been purchased, and is black in color. Thanks! Your welcome and thanks for your interest. Question from EBay Member: I like the way your doing this my question is whats the underneath look like frame rails/floor pans an so on is their any mud in the car? Gary, thank you. The frame rails on the car are fine. The floor pans had some rust through on both front and rear of both drivers and passenger sides of the vehicle. These areas were cut out and new pans welded in, then the entire undercarriage was wire wheeled clean and then painted semi-gloss black. There was some bondo used to fill small dents and creases where needed. Anyone who tells you there is a car this age that has no body filler in it I believe either does not know what they are doing or is not being truthful. Thanks for your interest, I appreciate your compliment. If this turns out well I will be doing a 73 Mustang Convertible the same way, albeit with a white interior. On Jul-19-10 at 10:49:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Gary: A picture of the new dash pad is now posted on the listing.
