Adult owned no kids, pets non smoker car. we drive this car everyday getting 48 mpg. Last week we went to the beach 50 miles one way, and when we came out of a store I started the car and noticed the check engine light was on. I also noticed it sounded different and had no power like it did. Bottom line is the turbo is not making boost. I know this because I had the same problem 3000 miles ago. I had a $1000 garrett new not rebuilt turbo put on. It was running great. It could be a vacuum leak, wastegate problem, computer? I have no time or desire to work on this right now. We have medical issues in the family . I am listing it for a good deal for someone, or I will let it sit until I feel like having it fixed. We drove the car home 60 miles with a/c blasting, cruise set. it runs good, just no power like it used to have. Sold as is, $300.00 non refundable deposit at auction end. Balance paid in cash only. Car needs to be picked up in 14 days. CAR SOLD AS IS TITLE WILL BE FILLED OUT TO NEW OWNER , NO OPEN TITLES, NO EXCEPTIONS. THIS IS A GREAT MPG VW, WE DRIVE THIS EASY AND ENJOY PASSING GAS STATIONS . Sometimes the a/c is not ice cold right away when the car is 120 degrees inside . In the morning it's ice cold, in the evening it's ice cold. Sometimes on the highway it gets so cold you have to add heat to it. It will stop blowing hard out the vent. If you turn off compressor button, it will thaw out and blow good again. I have never had any freon added in over two years . It does not leak freon. I had a guy tell me it sounds like the expansion valve is sticking. I bought one but never had it installed. I just wanted to mention this. Forgot to mention these new parts installed with engine work. OIL PUMP AND GEAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL EGR VALVE ( GOOD LOW MILE USED) THERMOSTAT MAGNETIC OIL DRAIN PLUG On Jul-07-10 at 14:06:07 PDT, seller added the following information: TWO THINGS I WANT TO CLEAR UP DUE TO QUESTIONS; #1 WILL CAR DRIVE THE WAY IT IS? The car runs and drives good as always except it has half the power it used to with turbo boost. We drove it home after this happened 60 miles at 65 mph , cruise set, a/c on. The only thing I have done since it happened was to take the intake hose off comming from the turbo to intake. It had no air pressure comming out at all meaning turbo is not turning, or wastegate is stuck. It could be an easy fix, the turbo has only 3000 miles on it, I'm pissed I paid over a grand and now this. #2 WHAT IS DAMAGE LISTED ON EBAYS LITTLE CARFAX . THE WHOLE TIME I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR I KNEW OF NO DAMAGE. I ONLY SAW THIS WHEN I LISTED IT. THE ONLY THING I CAN TELL YOU IS PASS. SIDE HEADLIGHT IS DIFFERENT COLOR MEANING PROBABLY REPLACED. HOOD LOOKS LIKE IT'S BEEN REPAINTED MAYBE. NO FRAME DENTS , DAMAGE, ETC. CAR RUNS STRAIGHT AND DOES NOT WEAR TIRES. REMEMBER, JUST SMALL DAMAGE TURNED INTO INSURANCE CAUSES EBAYS LITTLE REPORT TO SHOW UP. EVEN PARKING LOT DAMAGE.On Jul-14-10 at 16:40:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Update on problem; I had a Diesel guy look at the car and he said turbo is working fine. When we removed the plastic engine cover we noticed right away the Injector pump had fuel leaking from the top cover. He said all the symptoms point to pump; Check engine light on No power, pump is the timing on a diesel. Low pressure meaning loss of power like retarded timing. I see rebuilt pumps for $400 or kits for much less and will fix it and enjoy the fuel mileage if it does not sell. Car is as-is and I'm just telling you what he said PERIOD!!!!!! If you don't believe me like Kansas, just move on to another auction. He just looked at it for a short time and said it's a fuel issue.He cracked one injector line loose with it running and it started to die right away. Could not get to all of them to try. He said it had low line pressure.Motor runs smooth, no puffing exhaust, no shaking, not a compression issue or valve. Maybe it is the computer?? Was running great, shut it off ,ran this way when restarted,. The pump has never been worked on that I know of. Was running great, now acts like timing very retarded if it was a Gas engine. A diesel is over my head. On Jul-17-10 at 09:23:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, I had a guy put a code reader on it, P1144 failed MAF sensor P1252 failed cold start injector P1549 failed wastegate regulator valve P1441 failed EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve We unhooked some vacuum lines, put vacuum to them, the EGR valve WILL NOT move when you apply vacuum to it. We then cleared the codes. ALSO, THE GUY TIGHTENED THE SCREWS ON TOP OF INJECTOR PUMP AND THE SEEPING FUEL STOPPED. When I started it we thought great, it's fixed. It sounded normal, no check engine, accelerated good , but then the check engine came back on and it immediately went back to its old ways, loud sounding, less power, etc. When I drove back home I did notice it runs better, more power, not fixed like it should be but better. I have been beat up over this car for sale. "I"M DONE" THIS IS An AS-IS FOR SALE CAR. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET A GOOD 48 MPG CAR WITH WHAT I BELIEVE AN EASY FIX ,OR IF THEY WHINE OR COMPLAIN OR WANT TO RE-NEGOTIATE PRICE THEY CAN FORGET IT. I WILL BE HAPPY TO KEEP IT AND FIX IT.
