Vehicle Detail

Relisted with a lower Reserve and a Buy-It-Now Price Up for auction is my 1991 Audi 100. I purchased this car a year ago from an older lady who had kept this car at her Cape house. At the time, the car needed a little TLC, but was in good enough shape to replace my Saab 900 as a winter car. Over the intervening months, I have been working on it to fix the little things that had been let go. I have now lost me garage space and I must now reduce the number of cars I keep to what will fit in the driveway. This is a good, solid car and would make a great second car or be a nice find for an Audi lover looking for a good 100. Exterior: This car looks GREAT. It is very clean with minimal rust or scratches. The medium blue metallic paint and black trim are in good shape and don’t look it’s 19 year old age. It has a small pin hold rust spot just under the passenger side roof pillar and there is a line of rust along the rear bumper chrome trim. The car does have a hand-sized dent on the front passenger fender. This can easily be pushed out. The metal sunroof works well and does not leak. This is a very good-looking car with nice styling, a huge trunk with ski pass through and does not look dated. It has good tires on it with good tread that are mounted on nice Audi alloy wheels. The tires are showing some cracking, but I have not had any issues in the 2K miles I have driven it. Interior: This is one of the cleanest, nicest and wear-free interiors that I have seen. The gray, striped cloth upholstery is in excellent condition with no tears or wear to speak of. The carpets are in good condition with some dirt and staining, but still looking very nice. The dash and console are in nice condition and are not cracked or damaged. The wood trim is some of the most beautiful I have ever seen in any car and is in nice condition with just a few laminate cracks. The headliner does show some signs of dirt and looks to have come down in the rear at one time. It was glued back up, but is not perfect. The door panels are in great shape, clean and damage-free. Instrumentation & Accessories: This car was close to the top of the line for Audi when it came out in 1991. Only the 200S (which I have had) was better. As such, this car is equipped with all the standard convenience options and a full set of gauges…no idiot lights here. Most of these are still in good working order, some are not. The AC is not working, but it has great heat (new radiator and blower motor). The rear drivers side window works sometimes, but all others work, including the auto down drivers window. The car has the original, high-end Audi audio system with the individually powered Nokia speakers. This is a great sounding system, but the radio recently went into “safe” mode and I have been unable to get the code to work. All the instruments work, but the speedometer will sometimes quit working or bounce around (like an old British car). I had the dash out of the car to replace the defective diagnostic system display and now the directional indicator arrows will not work properly. I have not had time to pull the dash and tighten up the connections. None of these effects the wonderful drivability of this car, I just find them annoying. Mechanical: This is a very nice driving and handling car. It is very solid with no squeaks and rattles. The Audi 5 cylinder engine has proven to be a good, reliable power plant that, if treated properly, will go on for a long time. As such, the 95K+ miles that this car has is extremely low and it has plenty of life left in it. These were mechanically fuel-injected engines and this car has a new fuel pump and rebuilt injector distributor. The car starts and run well and is great on gas. It has good oil pressure and the new cooling fans keep the car right on temp, even in summer stop and go traffic. Cold winter starting is OK, but shows that the cold-start system could use some adjustment. The brakes are good all around and were done when I purchased the car. I also had the front axels done and the front end is tight. I also have replaced the alternator and fixed the mounting system that causes the typical, chronic v-belt squeal and jumping. The car also has a new battery. This Audi has the hard-to-find Sports transmission that was only available in 1991. It shifts well, but has the typical notchiness these transmissions were known for. I love to manually shift this car and it really adds to the driving experience. Exhaust is a little soft in places and buyer should plan to replace it within the year. The Bottom Line: This is a very nice, low-mileage Audi 100 that is very clean both inside and out. Mechanically, the car is in good condition. It is, however, not a perfect vehicle and still needs some things to be addressed. Much work has been done already, but I do not have the space to continue the work. This is a nice car for someone who knows and understands Audi’s and might have some mechanical ability or someone who is not worried about the little things and is looking for a nice driver. I wish I could keep this car because I have really enjoyed it, but my space situation will not allow it and it must move on. Terms & Conditions: This is a reserved price auction and I have priced the car fairly in relation to its book value and its condition. I will not reveal the reserve price, so please do not ask. It is unfair to the other bidders. The car is located in Framingham, MA and is available to be previewed…by appointment This car is listed locally and may be withdrawn at any time. Being a 19-year-old car, it is being sold “as is/where is”, with no warranties given or implied and all sales are final. Winning bidder must pay a $500 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of the auction close. Balance is due within 7 days or whenever the car is picked up, whichever is sooner. Final payment must be made in the form of a Money Order, Bank Check or Cash. Please ask any questions before you bid…I will be happy to answer as best I can. Winning bidder is responsible for all transport and delivery arrangements and costs, but I will gladly work with you. If you are new to eBay and have less than a 25 positive feedback score, please contact me BEFORE you bid. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding
