Vehicle Detail

Offered for auction: Triumph Stag, 1973, chassis number LE20654UBW. I obtained this Stag as a parts car to my 1971 Stag, but found out quickly that this car too good to be used for that purpose. Surpringly, in total contradiction to common position on Lucas electrics, all gauges, warning lights, dash lights, ancillaries, etc. actually work. This would be great news, if only the engine was equally good condition. Unfortunately it is not, hence the parts car status. The previous owner was silly enough to strip a spark plug thread, and in his desparation left the spark plugs out. Over time, despite the dryness of Northern Nevada, moisture crept in and ceased the engine. I started with injecting the cylinders with thin oil in order to prevent any additional damage to the bores. Hopefully the oil has slowly been doing its work, and this will allow the pistons to be freed some time. I have been able to get all the cylinder head studs out from the engine, which is also a plus considering the Stag tendency to fuse its cylinder head studs and bolts to the heads. I have not tried to turn the engine for quite some time though. The second, well actually his son, stated, that the engine has never overheated. He was a railroad engineer, and this car was his pride and joy. The son is the one with the spark plug issues... The interior could use a thorough scrubbing, but really only the floor mats need to be replaced to make for a decent driver. The dashboard wood could use some attention, as the varnish is peeling off. The body is in remarkable condition, but not free of surface rust. However, there is absolutely no terminal rust anywhere. The paint is dull, and the car needs a complete paint job. This car would make an excellent target for the serious restorer. This car is complete except for the exhaust. It has the pentastar light alloy wheels, which are in MG circles, sorry Triumph people, usually referred to as LE wheels. They are not, because the distance of the lug nuts is different. I will assist the buyer with shipping, but would prefer a local, non commercial, pick up due to the non running nature of the car. This car is sold "as is, where is" with no warranty actual or implied to any extend. Payment needs to made in full within seven (7) days from the end of auction. Payment can be made through PayPal, wire transfer, or money order/cashiers check. If not paid in full within the specified time limit the deposit will become non refundable and the sale void. This car is too good to scrap, but I need the space in my barn. I have decided to pare down my collection, and concentrate on my MGC's and my MGB V8. Thank you for your interest.
