Vehicle Detail
This is a relist. I have a new lower reserve!! 1988 Pontiac Fiero with 290 hp fuel injection crate motor. Bought this car in May 2005 with the original V6 with 113,400 miles and new paint. I would give the paint a 8 on 1-10. Put a rod through the block 5 months later. Spent the next year and half changing it over to a small block. I'll try to list most of what was done. Remove engine, trans, and cradle. Removed all suspension parts (front & rear) All parts were sand blasted, primed, and painted. Bought the master build conversion kit from V-8 Archie. This kit included adapter plate, motor mount, stater, four core radiator, exhaust, A/C & alternator mounts, flywheel, remote oil filter kit, electric water pump, and all small parts for the conversion. Sent trans to local shop to be rebuilt and new converter installed. Ordered new 290hp 350ci crate motor for local chevy dealer. Bolted engine & trans together on the cradle and reinstalled in car. Put all new ball joints,Poly bushings, tie-rod ends, and installed front and back suspensions back onto the car. At this point I thought the brakes should be up graded. I ordered 12" brake system from HT Motorsports. This kit came with cross-drilled, and slotted 2 piece rotors with 4 piston aluminum Wilwood aluminum calipers. Also included was new master cylinder and stainless lines. HT Motorsports has a web site with more info. I decided to install fuel- injection, and after talking with Archie I went with 1987-1992 tpi corvette. I bought this from V-8 Archie. It came with intake, ECM, wiring harness, fuel pump, 02 sensor, oil pressure sensor, and all hoses, bolts, and gaskets. Bought new Holly throttle body from Jegs. While waiting for parts I remove seats and replaced carpet. Install new leather on seats from Mr Mikes. Also replaced headline, visors, and steering wheel. Install new cd player and replaced all four speakers. After getting the car running I install new MB 17" wheels with Goodyear F1 eagles from discount tire. Took car to local shop for a 4 wheel alignment. After driving the car a few week I had a trans line come off, easy fix. Also had trouble with e-brake caliber hanging up, so i removed them. I have put a few thousand miles on it with no troubles. It is garage kept with a cover. Thing that are not done. A/C & cruise control were not hooked up. I have brand new compressor & accumulator that go with the car. Had the compressor on but the lines were 4" to short and never got around to having new ones made. All the stuff for cruise gose with the car as well. A few years ago I bought everthing needed to change to a 5 speed. This I also never got around to but the parts will also go with the car. I have close to 30K in this car. Reserve is close to 1/3 of this. Here is a list of costs for some of the bigger items. Car $6,000 V-8 Kit $2,950 Crate motor $1,900 Rebuilt trans $1,000 Fuel Injection $2,200 wheels/tires $1,625 Brake up-grade $3,000 Seat/ carpet $ 1,000 Fiero store $3,189 Throttle body $ 382 Radio/speakers $400 5 speed trans and all stuff to convert over $ 2,400 And lots and lots of other smaller items.
