Vehicle Detail

1966 Mustang A-code Fastback GT A beautiful 100% rust free California fastback restored with great attention to detail and quality. I restored this car and should be able to answer any questions. Email to schedule a time to talk on the phone if you care to. My goal is for the buyer to be fully informed and satisfied with their purchase. The pictures tell the entire story. They are of high resolution and taken with the intent to show as much of the car as possible. You may also email me to request specific pictures of any area if necessary. This car started life as a 2+2 fastback, not a GT. I turned this into a GT because I simply loved the GT looks and planned to keep it a lot longer than the 10 years I have. Not trying to fool anyone here. The entire listing is as honest as this paragraph. All GT specific options are in place and factory correct in every detail. This Mustang was built in Ford's San Jose, California plant, sold in California and stayed in California until I bought it in 2000 and had it shipped to Florida. It had been the previous owner’s daily driver and was exactly as described, 99% rust free, never been apart, never been wrecked, complete and original, including the California only in 1966 Thermactor smog system still attached and operational. The engine is complete and original to the car from oil pan to air cleaner. The engine tag on the intake manifold is original, not a repo. The rest of the drive train is original to the car as well, including the C-4 transmission and 8” rear end. It even had the original Autolite 4100 4bbl. carburetor (6ZE C62ZF E), which is specific to the 289, auto transmission Thermactor equipped car. I have the original distributor (C62F 12127 B) and AM radio with the knobs. The car was factory equipped with A/C, P/S, tinted windows, AM radio and Power Drum Brakes. Data: VIN 6R09A12**** Door Tag information, Body: 63A (2+2 Fastback, Standard Interior, Bucket Seats) Color: Z (Sauterne Gold Metallic) Trim: 26 (Black Crinkle Vinyl and Black Rosette Vinyl, Standard) Date: O6L (November 6, 1965) D.S.O. 72 (San Jose, California) Axle: 1 (3.00:1 Conventional) Trans. 6 (C4 Automatic) Drive Train: The original engine has been rebuilt with all new components to factory specs. The engine starts right up, is smooth, quiet has great oil pressure and runs very strong; it spins the rear tire with ease. The carburetor was rebuilt by Pony Carbs, Inc. and performs perfectly, including the choke. New duel exhaust with H pipe cross over and correct GT tips. The C-4 automatic transmission was rebuilt and it performs flawlessly. It has started to leak fluid recently but only by very, very slow small drips. The engine, C-4 and entire car has been driven 3,421 miles since the rebuild back in 2001. Body: This car has kept all of its original sheet metal including floors, fenders, hood and deck lid, quarter panels, etc. The driver’s door appeared to have a door skin replacement sometime in the past. There are no water leaks from the cowl; you can pour water down the cowl vents all day long and it all drains to the outside as intended. The underside sheet metal as well as the rest of the car is perfect; 100% rust free and as solid as it was when built in 1966. The factory’s red oxide primer is still visible in many places underneath the car. The car has never been wrecked and the underside unibody proves it. Except for a new windshield all of the glass is the original tinted (due to A/C option from the factory) Carlite and in great condition. Naturally all weather-stripping has been replaced. Paint & Body – PPG finest base coat/clear coat was applied to the laser straight body in the car’s original color, Sauterne Gold Metallic. Paint is only a few months old and stunning. Zero rust, chips, or scratches and I do mean zero. Entire body was stripped to bare metal and painted in PPG epoxy primer before body work began. Suspension & Steering – I added Stainless Steel Brake Corporations Front Disc Brake Kit and increased the diameter of the front sway bar. Master cylinder, brake lines and entire rear brakes were replaced as well. The suspension and steering did not have any issues and I simply replaced the power steering hoses and rebuilt the power steering pump. There are absolutely no leaks in the P/S system and it performs flawlessly. Wheels and tires – The rims are the correct 1966 styled steel wheels with correct for 1966 center caps. The tires look great and the tread looks brand new. However, the tires are over 10 years old, DO NOT DRIVE ON THEM – REPLACE THEM! Interior – New correct front seat covers, headliner, carpet, door panels, arm rests, instrument panel and dash pad installed. No cracks in the steering wheel. Interior has never been cut up for speakers or anything else. When I purchased the car it still had the original AM radio. I added a Kenwood stereo made for the 65-66 Mustang and kick panel speakers. The original radio comes with the car. Electrical – Everything works and is excellent shape including horns, tail lights, turn signals, headlights, interior lights, etc. The fog lamps are wired with the factory harnesses and work as they should; with the fog lamps on the tail lamps are turned on. All gauges and instrument lights work fine. Engine wiring harness, tail light harness, alternator, and voltage regulator wiring were all replaced. Air Conditioner – The entire a/c unit is complete and correct down to the intake manifold to compressor bracket. I installed a new condenser and dryer but never connected the system as I did not want to contaminate it with the compressor not being hooked up. This is due to the Thermactor pump needing to be rebuilt (they are driven off the same belt as the A/C compressor). Fuel - New fuel tank, sender and lines installed with factory correct clamps. Attention to Detail – As the pictures show a lot of attention to detail went into this car. Coil, voltage regulator, battery cables, starter cable, spark plug wires, PVCV hose, radiator hoses, bypass hose and their clamps are concourse correct. Factory correct fastners (nuts, bolts and screws) from AMK used whenever possible. Even the fog lamp wiring is in the correct place through the radiator support with the proper grommets while the on/off switch is correctly located to the left of the steering wheel. A lot of research, time and effort went into this restoration to make it as correct as possible. Thermactor – Except for the actual pump that needs to be rebuilt the unit is complete and original in every way and in incredible shape. There are no replacement or aftermarket parts, it is all original including the hoses and clamps! No dry rot or burn through, the hoses have no cracks and the whole system is perfect for a concourse level restoration. The car can be seen at anytime by appointment and I urge you to see the car or have an agent inspect it before bidding. I do not want any surprises any more than you do. If you go online to the Vintage Mustang Forum you may be able to find a knowledgeable member who is local and willing to inspect the car for you in order to provide an independent third party assessment. If you see this car you will want to buy it. It is totally to my advantage for you to inspect this car or have it inspected before purchase and I will do everything I can to facilitate this. Clear Florida title in my name. If you have no history with eBay you must contact me before bidding. Again, I strongly urge you to email me with any questions or requests for additional photos. A $1,000.00 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close, remainder due within 5 business days. I can store this car for a few months but you will be expected to show proof of insurance upon purchase and a storage fee of $150.00 a month will be applied following the first month after purchase. Vehicle is sold as is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied. Car is advertised in other areas by other means and I can end the auction at anytime. If I have not described an area about this car to the level you need, please ask. I should be able answer any questions you may have. While I have only sold one other car, please take the time to read the buyers feedback.
