Vehicle Detail
1971 AMC Javelin SST 360 with 727 auto transmission. Block and tranny are from a 72 Javelin. Heads are 71 and show signs (and documentation) of port/polish at some point. Original SST 360 car. Original paint was green, but now white with blue flames. Car has not been registered since 2003 and is currently not registered. Comes with lots of documentation, including engine rebuild info from early 80's. Has original owners manual, maintenance manual, and Javelin Club books from 1980 thru 1984. I came across this car a few months ago while buying a different car. The title is clear and shows the previous owner titled the car in Nevada in 2002. It wouldn't start -- previous owner thought it might be the starter, but turned out to be a broken flexplate. I replaced the flexplate and starter, drained the gas and filled it up with fresh gas and Seafoam treatment, changed the oil and filter, changed the tranny fluid and filter, changed the mechanical fuel pump and filter, rebuilt the carb (Edelbrock 1406 -- 600 cfm elec choke), changed the plugs, replaced the alternator and voltage regulator, checked compression, gapped the points, changed the coil, flushed the radiator, replaced the thermostat, bled the brakes -- and it started right up! Mallory dual points distributor with MSD 3 coil. In the months it's been in my garage, it hasn't leaked a drop of any fluids. The car runs strong -- feels like a moderate cam was installed during the rebuild. I'm not an AMC guy -- so just looking to cash out. Paint is glossy, but not perfect -- previous owner said he bought the car shortly after the owner before him had it brought up to current interior and exterior condition -- which appears to be a decent restoration -- but not perfect. No rust. All panels are solid, no fiberglass or bondo (everything passes the magnet test). All gauges work except the tic-tac clock (neither tach nor clock work). Interior was originally green -- seat belts maintain that color. Seats, rear package tray, carpet, headliner, and door panels are in great shape with no rips or tears. Trunk is fully carpeted (with a custom SST spare tire cover). Several spare parts come with the car, including an AC compressor that was in the trunk when I bought it (used, unknown condition -- but at least a good core). All AC plumbing is still under the hood -- unknown condition. There was also a bag of several metal "Javelin" and "360" badges, as well as new upper and lower ball joints. Tires are in good shape with lots of tread left. Headers with dual exhaust and H-pipe. Original option "dual canopy" vinyl roof is in great condition with no tears or bubbles. All glass is in excellent shape, as are chrome bumpers and trim. Car is sold AS IS with no warranty. Buyer is responsible for shipping. $500 deposit due with 48 hours of auction close, the remaining balance within 7 days of auction close. I can store it for up to a month in my garage for free to allow for shipping arrangments -- $100 per month after that. No tire-kickers -- winning the auction means you are buying the car at the winning price with no "haggling" afterwards. Check my feedback -- buy with confidence. This is a solid Javelin -- and by no means original -- but a very nice example of a car that is hard to find in good shape today. It could easily be entered and compete at shows as it sits right now. The reserve is very low -- only a little more than I have invested in the car -- which is WELL BELOW the reasonable value. Let me know if you have any questions. Car is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The car will not leave my possession until payment clears. I prefer PayPal -- and I will cover the fees that go with that. I'm open for discussion on other payment methods -- but will stick to the 7-days paid in full stipulation. Let me know if you have any questions. Bidders with less than 10 positive feedbacks, or more than 2 negative feedbacks must e-mail me before bidding to discuss or your bid will be removed.
