Vehicle Detail

1973 Mercedes Benz 280 SE 4.5. As you can see from the included pics this is a beautiful black over white four door sedan. The car was originally a California car. I purchased it from the son in law of the original owner in 2005. Before I purchased the car, it was repainted. I'm not sure the black over white was the factory finish color. I suspect it was all white originally but this is a beautiful color combination and a real head turner. The interior woods were refinished by a North Carolian company that is one of the best at refinishing automobile wood trim. The orignal radio was removed and a newer radio with CD was installed along with speakers in the front lower kick panels and the rear window area just behind the rear seats....it has a great sound. The interior is Mercedes Benz black MBTex.....and it looks great with no rips or tears of any sort. The car runs great and has been mechanically maintained. If the car sits for an extended period, it may briefly blow white smoke when it is started and driven. The car stored in a garage away from my home but it has been at my residence for a couple of months. In that time, I have driven it at least once or twice a week and it hasn't happened at all but I did want to mention it. Although this car has obviously been well maintained, it has not had an engine or transmission rebuild. The AC blows but not cold. I have made no attempt to see if it would work if coolant was added. The limited time I have driven the car has been in the beautiful Kentucky spring and fall seasons, so, no need for AC. As is typical with most older MBs the heater lever controls are broken off. I have a replacement set which will be included with the sale but installation does require removing the dash. Again, I didn't pursue that since I only drive the car in good weather. The head liner has a separation close to the rear window otherwise it looks good. I have include a pic of that. The left rear wheel well in the trunk has some rust.
