Vehicle Detail
1972 Chevrolet C10 4x4 Shortbed Fleetside Back up for auction after the last buyer backed out and disappeared... I've owned this truck for almost 3 years now. It is one of the most reliable classics I've ever had the pleasure of owning. This is an original Idaho truck purchased new in Emmett Idaho and has spent it's entire life in dry South/West Idaho. This truck draws more attention and thumbs up than my muscle cars. It was restored and repainted once in the mid 90s and then the mechanical and interior were redone again about 3-4 years ago, just before I purchased it. Since I have owned it, I have replaced the front brakes and hubs, the U joints in the driveline and installed 17" chrome wheels and 33" All Terrain tires. I also installed an MSD distributor, performance plug wires, new spark plugs, tall aluminum valve covers and a K&N air filter. The truck has a strong 350ci Chevy engine mated to a Turbo 350 transmission and a NP205 transfer case, these were all installed during the mechanical renovation 3-4 years ago. The milage since the mechanical renovation is accurate as read on the Odometer in the new guage cluster at 7400 miles but the total vehicle milage is unknown. This has been a wonderful truck but with a new baby on the way and only 2 seats in the truck, I know I won't get to drive it much anymore. Time to pass it on to someone else to enjoy. The best part about this truck is that it has been fully road tested and completely sorted out. Everything works, works well, it is comfortable/reliable enough to drive on a daily basis and new enough that maintenance should be minimal for the forseeable future. It's everything a great truck should be. I'm really going to miss it. The Good: Everything in/on the truck works with the exception of the horn which is disconnected but present. The entire truck has been rewired using a "Painless" wiring harness and the install is clean and very well done. All lights are bright and connections are true. The truck is very rust free. What little rust there may have been in the cab or bed was repaired prior to paint. They are both very solid with no issues. The cab got new rocker panels and crossmembers before paint as well. As stated all the wiring is new and everything is in good working order. Optima red Battery included. The previous owner installed a fuel tank out of a 72 Blazer under the bed of the truck and removed the tank in the cab. This is a wonderful modification, no more fuel smell in the cab or sloshing as you drive. The installation was done very well and looks factory. The guage cluster was replaced with an aftermarket cluster with white faced gauges that glow with the running lights on for visibility at night. A matching Tach was also installed in the center guage location. It all works and looks great. Very comfortable... The interior has new grey carpet on the floor. A pair of cloth bucket seats out of a newer chevy truck with integrated shoulder belts were installed along with a center console our of a 2002 Ford truck. It all fits very well and makes for a very nice driving environment. I'm usually not big on non-original interiors but this one is fantastic and looks like it belongs there. The Weather stripping is all in place and in good shape, no leaks, no drafts and pretty quiet. The bed has been rhino lined and there is a nice in-bed tool box included. New Flowmaster dual exhaust system with new pipes from the headers back. Sounds perfect, healthy but not too loud. Reliable, reliable, reliable. Normally I drive this truck once every week or so. The rest of the time it's garaged. Though i have used it daily for a couple weeks at a time before when other vehicles were in the shop. Whether it was last started yesterday or a month ago, a couple pumps on the accelerator and it fires right up. Start it and go. I'd drive this truck anywhere. And it passes the Boise emission test every year without issue. 17" Chrome wheels with 33" Cooper ST Radials. 80% tread left on the tires, still look new. New front brakes with new rotors, calipers, pads and even new Warn hubs. Rear brakes and master cylinder were inspected at the same time. Brakes stop straight and true. Has a trailer hitch installed. Alpine CD Stereo installed with 2 Sony 6x9s in the doors. Great sounding stereo. The Average: The paint is showing it's age. It shines up nice with a good wax and looks beautiful from 5ft away but upon inspection you will find scratches, chips, some dulling and wear. There are a couple minor fluid leaks. One is oil dripping from the pan. The other is coming from the transfer case. These are slow leaks. Maybe a quarter sized drip spot each if left sitting in the same spot for a week or so. The Bad: There is a nickle sized bubble in the bottom of the passenger front fender behind the wheel. It has not broken through the paint but it tells me there is rust starting in that fender. Luckily a fender replacement is simple and inexpensive when and/or if you decide to address it. Aftermarket steering wheel, which is why the horn is not connected. Small crack in the chrome on the front bumper. The bottom line is that this is a super reliable and highly desirable classic truck from a dry high desert climate that has been well cared for throughout it's life. It's ready to be driven home and enjoyed immediately. I've taken it to shows and even had one person tell me "If I could have anything here, it would be your truck. It's beautiful." I was flattered. I would plan on a repaint if you want a "show" truck, but in the mean time it's ready to go and looks better than 90% of the other ones out there. I have done my best to fully describe the condition of the vehicle to the best of my knowledge. I encourage anyone interested in purchasing it to come inspect and test drive it in person. I can and will make myself availible as needed. I can assist in arranging transport of the vehicle but all costs are the responsibility of the buyer. I may be able to deliver the vehicle within 550 miles of Boise, Idaho for the cost of gas/lodging (please confirm before bidding). Or, fly in and drive it home. The vehicle is sold as-is where-is. Clear Idaho title in my name. $500 non-refundable deposit required within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due within 7 days. Please have your finances in order before bidding. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the vehicle is for sale locally as well.
