Up for auction is a 1962 chevrolet impala with ss trim in as is were is condition. This was another project that was started with good intent but I need the space. I bought it pretty much like this. The car has been sitting since the 90's in a garage waiting for the right help. For the most part its pretty solid and complete. If there is something in particular that you want to know about or need pictures of please ask before bidding. I do not want any hard feelings at the end of the sale. Now for the good. The car does run with a late model small block chevy and powerglide transmission. It ran pretty good the other day until the carb floated out and fouled the plugs. But I have driven it around the yard when it was running smooth and it did shift fine. The brakes do not work. Somebody put new metal in for the floors. Carpet is gone. Seats are rough as is the door skins. Dash is in good shape. Has power steering with manual brakes. Has some of the ss trim inside. Headliner is there. Alot of the trim and misc stuff will be in the trunk because it was taken off for the body work. The body has rust and the previous owner started sanding and trying to fix it.The underside is rusty. Trunk seems soild and fairly clean. Radiator leaks. The wiring needs help. some lights work and some don't. And there is no keys with it, but luckily the ignition works without it. I do believe this car to be a true ss with the numbers I found from the firewall tag and good old google. If you have a question about it let me know and we can talk about it. I have tried to describe this car as best as I could but there is always the possiblity I forgot, missed something or my assessment is not the same as somebody elses. According to my research, the 14 is for 1964 impala ss only. Also I checked all of the other 1962 Impala SS being sold on ebay, and they all have the same vin starting 21847......So again, I do believe that this is an ss just from what information is out there, but I have posted the vin and any interested bidders should check it out. On Jun-26-10 at 13:53:59 PDT, seller added the following information: ***Update: Since this add was written I have changed the plugs and the engine fires right up and idles great. I am not saying its ready for a road trip but I can prove it has a good engine in it. I also bypassed the fuel tank to insure there is no junk getting to the carb, because it floated out on me once, by putting a small tank in front of the radiator ( I just cut the rubber hose before the fuel pump and ran it to the temp. tank). Please ask questions if this is not clear enough.*** -----------Due to an inconsiderate/ignorant buyer of a tractor that I just sold I MUST add that the winning bidder of this car must have a way to load and haul this car away. Please do not show up and expect me to solve your problems on how to get it home, load it or supply material and time doing this. I will help as much as possible within reason.
