Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1967 Buick Riviera. This car has the 430 cubic inch V-8 engine, which I once read gave it the most horsepower of ANY two door American car in 1967. Odometer shows 5,778 miles, but actual mileage is unknown. It seems to be keeping an accurate count of additional miles, but who knows if it’s flipped just once or more than once. Fun car – I get lots of thumbs-up signs and strangers shouting “nice car” when I drive it. I’m selling it because my wife doesn’t like it and with my kids driving soon, I’m running out of space. Car has power brakes and power steering. Power front windows and power rear windows work, though they’re slow. Of course, I have no idea how fast they were 40 years ago. The rear windows go all the way down as well with no pillar in between, giving the car an open-air feel (see photos). Window gaskets should probably be replaced before you park it in the rain (I keep it garaged). Car has hide-away headlights. They work fine. Car has tilt steering wheel. Comes with what appears to be the original Protect-O-Plate. Power front seat works! Moves forward and backward and up and down! Did I mention this car is more than 40 years old? They don't make 'em like this anymore. Car has air conditioning (not working) – the compressor has been in the trunk since I bought the car. Needs body work before it can be painted, but I have fun driving it around as-is. Runs good, but you need to crank it 3 or 4 times before it starts up when it’s cold. FYI, I got 17 miles per gallon on a 250 mile road trip a couple years ago. Lots of power. Sounds great – (I believe the last owner had the exhaust replaced) – but in any case, my mechanic said it was in good shape. Car has Firestone FR 721 (15 inch) whitewall tires with lots of tread left on them. They’re bias-ply tires (not radial), so I believe that they’re correct for a 40+ year old car. Power antenna works (goes up and down via a switch on the dash), but the radio is not working. The horn works, but probably 1/3 of the time when I take it out, using the right turn signal causes the horn to beep. I didn’t bother to have my mechanic spend any time troubleshooting it. Car comes with a Buick parts locating guide (paperback) and the GM Factory OEM Shop Manual on CD-Rom. which covers all 1967 Buicks. So, the info your mechanic would have looked at back in 1967 has been scanned and is on this CD-Rom. Driver’s seat has tears in it, but is comfortable. I had a lot of work done on this car by my mechanic after I bought the car a couple years ago: Ø cylinder heads removed, resurfaced at machine shop Ø broken bolts in cylinder heads removed, holes re-drilled and retapped Ø new head gaskets Ø new intake gaskets Ø purchased two new (used) exhaust manifolds, resurfaced at a machine shop Ø two new engine mounts installed Ø alternator bracket replaced Ø new thermostat Ø new spark plugs Ø new heater hose Ø new fuel hose Ø new hose clamps Ø brakes inspected by mechanic (unloaded front bearings to remove drums, repacked bearings and adjusted brakes) Ø headlights aligned Car is for sale AS-IS with no warranty, expressed or implied. All sales are final. I’ve done my best to describe the car’s condition. I’m not an expert and don’t pretend to know what it would take or how much it would cost to get this car into “show” condition. The car is obviously more than 40 years old and has not been restored, so please understand if it isn't exactly in showroom condition. $250 deposit required via PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction, or I reserve the right to sell it to the next highest bidder. Full payment required within 7 days of auction end by cash or cashier’s / bank check / wire transfer. I’m flexible as to when you actually pick up the car. The car is available for inspection in the Cincinnati area, so if you can’t get here to inspect it, and you don’t know what you’re doing when it comes to old cars – PLEASE DO NOT BID. If you’d like to see the car, send me a message through Ebay with your name and telephone number and I’ll call you to set something up. And please ask any questions BEFORE YOU BID. I reserve the right to cancel bids from bidders with zero or negative feedback. I have over $6,000 in this car but need to get rid of it, so I've set a very low reserve. This car is NOT for sale locally, so if you win the Ebay auction, the car is yours! Thanks and happy bidding!
