I am listing this Classic 1980 Austin Morris Mini Special for my daughter and son in law. They were stationed by the USAF in the UK for 8 years and have returned Stateside with this car. The car has not yet been registered here in the States as they had intended on renovating it first. The car has a brand new starter/solenoid and alternator. This car belongs to my daughter and she is only selling it due to the fact that she has just found out she is pregnant again and they have decided that they need a larger family vehicle. The car is English spec (right hand drive) and has a 4 speed manual transmission with a 1098 cc engine as listed on the title. There is a CD player in the car as well. The car has new rims and tires with the rims being called "mini lights" and bought from mini spares in the UK. The car does run, but there now seems to be a problem with the clutch as it was test driven by a potential buyer and they took it for a "hot rod" test drive. The price has been considerably lowered from the original listing due to this problem. It will probably need a new battery and would benefit from a tune up as it has been set up for the past year. It will also need to be picked up with a trailer as it is not yet registered. The car is being sold "as is". The cost of shipping a car from the UK would cost nearly what we are asking for the car. This would be an ideal car for someone who wants a unique ride and is looking for something worthy to fix up! Parts for this car are relatively inexpensive and can be bought from Mini Spares.co.uk where they will ship them directly to you. A manual on the car as well as sales books from mini spares will also be provided with the car. The car is available for viewing at any time with an appointment before the end of the auction. Sale is final and a $500.00 non refundable deposit is due at the close of the auction through paypal with the remaining balance due at time of pickup no later that 3 days after the close of the auction unless other arrangements have been made. The true mileage on the car is unknown as the engine had been replaced with another engine before it was purchased by my daughter (the car is 30 years old and does not have the original engine in it). For the age of the car it is in great shape. There is a bit of rust coming through on the bottom of the door panels and around the boot (trunk) and rear window, but it is in better shape than most other classic cars of this kind. With a little TLC and the right person this would be a lovely car for someone. The nostalgia alone makes this car great! This car is a rare car even in the UK as it is a "special" edition...and you won't find any other car like it here in the States. The car is being listed locally as well and I reserve the right to end the auction early if there have been no bids and the car sells outside of ebay. Please understand that this is not a new vehicle and that a car of this age would not be free of rust. It took a long time to find a car in this good of condition and over 25 years old in order that it could be brought back to the States. As I mentioned before, the rust is not bad considering the age of the vehicle but there is a bit coming through on the bottom of the door jams, the bottom of the boot (trunk) and around the back window seal.
